We had a panel saw. Bought a keen cut and got rid of our panel saw.. Would do it again. The mess with a panel saw is significant. We tried a few vacuum system to try and control it with little success. You might be able to control it with a more expensive industrial vacuum.

We're on Shopvox. It's made a big difference for us to manage large volumes of work as we grow. It's the only workflow software we've used so I can't really speak to my "favorite". Before Shopvox we were using custom "task" forms in Outlook. These were good for workflow but they weren't...
Hey All,
Anybody had success edge to edge printing on 48" material with any of the Epson printers. We set our gutters to OFF and our margins and spacing to 0 in ONYX (Postershop 12) but the machine is auto sensing the material width and prints 1/4" away from the edge regardless.
Any...
Even if we're re-using a face I would never do it on site. Aside from the weather factors, installing large graphics in a bucket is less than ideal. I guess if you had a platform lift but even then. We just grab the face and bring it back to the shop and reface in a more controlled environment...
I've seen some people using their Trotec Laser to engrave the leather on basketballs. Might be worth outsourcing to someone with that capability. Cut vinyl on a ball seems like a less than ideal scenario.
We just had same problem but the squeegee definitely had little Nick's in the edges. Check your infeed and outfeed setup for contaminate transfer.
We also had a circumstance where our roll had defective backing on it that was slighty wavy on one side of the roll. This created poor surface...
Curious what measures everybody takes to maintain a clean print/production environment? What tools, equipment and procedures to you follow to try and prevent contaminates ending up in a print/sign?
We're moving to a new shop in roughly 6 weeks and one of the things I want to do is control...
Put the ball back in their court.
"Why do you feel you should get a better price?"
Usually leaves them dumbfounded and unresponsive for a couple seconds. When they gather themselves and begin talking again they don't ever have a valid reason.
This is also one of my pet peeves as someone above...
For vinyl and substrate signs we warranty on a case by case basis. We try and use tried and true materials. The amount of money you save per/sqft on an economy option isn't worth the tradeoff in quality, risk of failure or lifespan of product loss.
For cans and channel letters our supplier...
Hmmmm thanks for the tip. Color management is something I need to get on the train with anyway. It's rare that we come across situations where it's critical on a job but I do have a spectrometer that's been sitting in the box in my office for a year. Should probably learn how to use it.
Grimco has pretty good rebate/volume programs where we are. If you walk into my shop off the street and you want a $5 decal you pay my minimum shop rate of $45. If your company already does $60,000 a year with me I might give you the $5 decal for free.
Hey all.
We've been looking at adding an FB550 to our shop. In recent discussions with our main technician he's really not a fan of the current generation of FB models and suggested that we look at the previous generation FB500 for higher print quality. I wonder how much of this is his bias as...
What kcollinsdesign is saying is 100% correct. They will come after you for amounts not self-assessed. We are in BC which has the same Real Property / Tangible Personal Property setup for taxes. We are in the midst of an audit. We were naive and had no idea of the RP/TPP difference in tax rates...
The 60* blade is a must.
Two other things you could check.
Roller tension - if you're running thicker material it's important to make sure all your rollers are on the tightest spring setting. We found sometimes the tail end of the media was popping the clips up on the reverse feed. We cut lots...
