  1. RIP Software

Agreed. Too many modules required to do simple tasks. It's also extremely slow compared to other RIPs.
  2. Jeti 3150x2 Color Shifting

I'm not that familiar with Onyx. I would like to think you can re-linerize with Onyx though. Someone else here might be able to speak to that.
  3. Jeti 3150x2 Color Shifting

Are you re-linierizing? Your profile isn't changing, it's your printing conditions that are changing. There are many factors that determine color. The only true way to control this is through linerization.
  4. Acrylic and Cardstock material will not lay flat. Need help!

Have you tried taping down the edges of the card stock so that it lays flat? That's what we do on our flatbed.
  5. buying a new flatbed

Here is a link to a video I shot of the 3250LX while I was up in Meredith in July.
  6. buying a new flatbed

Their engineers found that light passes through nitrogen easier than it does through regular air. They tacked on a nitrogen generator on the side of the machine and pump it under both lamp assemblies as it's printing.
  7. buying a new flatbed

I've heard around $750,000. Also, the lamps are rated for 5-6 years but they cost around $50k to swap out, which is a heavy hit. I've seen the Gs3250LX in action and it is pretty sweet. It has it's own nitrogen generator for god's sake.
  8. Fuji Acuity

If this is your first flat bed, remember that your printing direct now. If you've been slinging vinyl and applying printed graphics to substrates up until this point, then surface prep was minimal. Hand prints or things of that nature didn't matter. Now that you are printing direct, the quality...
  9. Flat bed fun

How fuzzy does the image get in those crevices? I assume there must be some kind of graininess due to the carriage gap being severely increased over those crevices.
  10. Onyx vs. Caldera

My company was just recently forced to switch from Fiery 4.5 over to Onyx 10.1. So far I've been less than impressed. We just did a time trial compairing both and Fiery just blew it out of the water on RIP speed as well as ease of use/ability to manipulate files easily. So far, Onyx is slow and...
  11. Transparency Issues

Try saving the PDF in a higher version and see if that helps. Rasterizing it will certainly take care of the issue. I've always had problems with drop shadows in Fiery XF, especially with .ai files. Re-saving as .eps or .pdf always helped, but for some reason thats not doing it for you. EFI...
  12. Rigid Clear Material

Hey, all. I'm trying to get my hands on some type of material that is semi rigid and printable. Something like a mylar. Sihl makes a 7mil clear, but no one is carrying it. I've tried Fellers but they don't carry anything either. Any ideas?
  13. terrible sign install

While this sign should have been installed differently, drivers still need to use judgement when approaching a stop like that. It's obvious when approaching this stop that you'll either need to pull out slightly. You're putting your own life at risk when you approach a stop like this and don't...
  14. it's here !!!!

We just pulled our new VUTEk GS3250x off the truck. Such a big toy.
  15. vutek RFID question (3rd party ink)

I'm sure you could use them as spot color channels, the issue is getting whatever RIP you're using to print the spot color and only the spot color when you need it to. I'm not too familiar with the older VUTEks.
  16. vutek RFID question (3rd party ink)

They do eventually expire. Up until a month or so ago, I was providing couplings to someone who was using them on third party inks. He had some work arounds in place though and is a great resource of knowledge. I'll PM you his email so you can get in touch with him. It sounds like the is the...
  17. vutek RFID question (3rd party ink)

One of the easier ways to bypass the RFID chips is to take old couplings/tubes from someone who actually used VUTEk ink and replace with those chips/couplings. As for the lamps, the only way I know to shut them off and still print is to click shutdown/cool on the VXworks computer side or just...
  18. Prices?

Anyone with half a brain and a computer can piece together the baseline cost of just about anything. What they can't quite figure out is the cost of something based on R&D, overhead, marketing and the many other pieces of the puzzle it takes to get a product out the door. For instance, I...
  19. Graphtec 7000 Max Cutting Length too Small

For some reason after we reset our Graphtec 7000, I can only cut out to about 70" or so. Any ideas on how to remedy this?
