  1. Channel Letters: What would you charge for this job?

LOL, I missed it, but ironic $4240.80 While I agree that most signs look like garbage, I also agree that it is a slippery slope in allowing an entity to dictate what my sign will look like, unless, of course THEY are paying for it....
  2. Art for Mattell Toy

Can we see what the graphics look like?
  3. Channel Letters: What would you charge for this job?

I laugh reading some of the ordinances. They don't go so far as to say something is prohibited, but the word "discouraged" shows up on every other line... Here is an actual excerpt from the sign code: "Bold contrasting vibrant colors shall be discouraged" Really?
  4. Channel Letters: What would you charge for this job?

Thanks for the replies. Where's the irony? I must be missing something

  6. SP-300v Service call 0107 ....again

BTW, Does anyone have access to a service manual that they wouldn't mind sending me? In a recent computer crash, that was one of the few things that didn't get backed up. Thanks again!
  7. SP-300v Service call 0107 ....again

Thank you for the replies! I am back up and running, but still don't know why I was having the problem. I went and ate lunch, came back, ran the initialization/setup another couple of times and now it works..... go figure. I am going to assume that I will need a new encoder strip and/or linear...
  8. SP-300v Service call 0107 ....again

I posted a similar issue a couple of years ago, which I solved by doing a linear initialization and cleaning my encoder strip. This time, I have done the same procedure, as well as (by instruction of a tech) flipped my encoder strip upside down to see if that would solve the problem, with no...
  9. Photo mounting options

I often print onto gloss calendered film, laminate with matte laminate, and make the print about 1" - 1.5" wider and taller than the panel, and wrap the edges of the vinyl over the sides and to the back of either 3mm or 6mm sintra. This gives a canvas-type wrapped look and customers really love...
  10. Wrapping Jeep Wrangler with fiberglass top... questions

I appreciate the reply, but can you offer any insight as to how you did it? What material did you use? The jeep in question is a hard top, but it has a texture to it, not exactly smooth.
  11. Wrapping Jeep Wrangler with fiberglass top... questions

Ummmm, that's not the jeep..... ???
  12. Wrapping Jeep Wrangler with fiberglass top... questions

Thanks for the replies! I'm discussing this with the customer and I'm going to try to persuade him into leaving the top alone, but perhaps he is willing to have it sanded/painted. I don't want to sell him anything that won't look good after a year or two.
  13. Wrapping Jeep Wrangler with fiberglass top... questions

The fiberglass top is textured, any suggestions on what type of material should be used on this area, or will IJ380c work? Thanks in advance:signs101:
  14. Verizon Droid Phones...Which One to get?

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but just wondering if you had considered the iPhone? I have a Verizon iPhone and came from an htc evo (android) and haven't really looked back. However, I am also not uninterested the android offerings, just haven't really desired more than what my iPhone...
  15. QR Codes in the Sign Biz

The app called "redlaser" works great, and is free. I am in the process of designing graphics for a bar top at a local Chicago Cubs bar. I showed the owner my idea of placing QR codes in the graphics next to photos etc. that link to Wikipedia articles and Youtube videos. He loved it. For...
  16. QR Codes in the Sign Biz

That is where your job starts... trial and error, see what works best, know from experience that way you can better help your customers.
  17. QR Codes in the Sign Biz

How about a tech savvy realtor that does a video walk-through of each of their homes for sale. They could post it on youtube, and make the QR code point to the video. So you see a house for sale that you are interested in, walk up to the sign and scan the code and instantly you are looking...
  18. QR Codes in the Sign Biz

I posted this link above ----- http://keremerkan.net/qr-code-and-2d-code-generator/ Has an option to generate an .EPS vector code. Works great. edit: oops, didn't see your second post, you found the same link....
  19. Inkpad for Ipad

Looks quite impressive. If I had an ipad i would probably buy it even though I probably wouldn't use it much. Doesn't seem like you could be as precise using your finger for any detailed illustration, but it is cool nonetheless. I would really like to see pen input on the ipad paired with a...
  20. Hi Performance Cast vs Tranlucent Vinyl

In my experience, black is black and if any light is allowed to pass through, it isn't black. I use opaque hp cast black, never had an issue.
