the main differences are in the rip/print area. The 8.6 works much better with colors in my opinion. It also has send to versaworks button if you have a roland and prefer versaworks for rip/print. I still have problems ripping real big files with flexi and in those occasions I use versaworks.

Don't get me wrong I love Flexi and the only problem I have is on files larger than 2gb. I just hate trying to work on Illistrator files in it espcially ones with fades and transparencies.

Illistrator and Flexi don't realy play to well together. If you are using Illistrator to design, you probably don't want to try using Flexi as your Rip. Doesn't the printer come with a rip software you can use with Illistrator? We have a Roland and it came with versaworks which you can install...

we have better luck with colormatching using Flexi..... But some times Flexi won't rip real big high res images then we have to use versaworks. Its not often though

When you save it as an DXF file make sure that you select VERSION 12-14 DXF I use Autocad ALOT when I need exact dimensions and found that the earlier dxf formats work much better. Also make sure all polylines are closed. I import into Flexi though.

you can find a program on line to separate the multipage pdf files. I have had to find one to do that before. I think it was called pdfsam.

Install the versaworks desktop driver that will show a printer called versaworks. Then print from flexi (not rip and print) to that printer. You may have to set up custom paper sizes and the mess around with the panels but this will work. The only other way would be to save as an eps then send...

Its probably your firewall not the antivirus software. You must tell the firewall to allow the product manager to run. Hope this helps
