At least for us — I’ve battled Oracal’s 3640 rolls and its awful puckering and crinkling for years. The backing liner absorbs humidity like TOILET PAPER.
A week ago Grimco substituted a roll of General Formulation’s cheap matte stuff and OH MAH GAWD… no issues. Didn’t have to babysit our...
We rarely print vehicle wraps, so I’m sure there are better substrates— but my goodness! Arlon’s SLX+ material has been the biggest, most pleasant surprise for us. Prints are super smooth and consistent, and their matching 3270 laminate comes out flawless even in our awful roll-fed machine. I...
The way we're setup here, we just have to deal with laminate acting up. Had a funny interaction with a customer about it -- they thought our lamination was like you had in school, with the super stiff thick plastic. They finallyunderstood why we couldn't just drop everything and lam a few cards...
When I graduated high school, I was heavy into cartooning, so I went through the phone book, found the most awful, ugly ads and company logos, then sent out faxes on spec. I got so much business from that-- lot of them wanted shirts and caps, so had to team up with a local print shop and...
We're printing the wraps for a plumber's fleet, and this is the first time I'm doing actual 'wrap' and not just partial/spot decals. We use EcoSol 4 Max inks and I was just given a bunch of Arlon vinyl to print on.
Do I need to let these sit up and gas out before laminating? If so, what's the...
When we load items into our hotfolder, Caldera crunches the preview and then it shows up in the main window multiple times. This happens on different file types, singles or multi-page PDFs.
Anyone know why this happens? I delete these dupes without problem, but it IS a tad annoying.
The...
VersaWorks Dual gives ink level remaining in 25% increments. Is there any way to pull a. more accurate reading from the printer? Like from a network command line/web interface? I've used a Canon printer way back when that had an 'ink check' via a web interface -- it was surprisingly precise...
Optiscout has the most PSYCHOTIC ui and documentation. The plunge rate IS a tad high. I've reduced them. No idea why they were set so freakishly high.
Overcut Compensation causes the blade to 'sketch' out any curve in hundreds of straight lines. Doesn't matter what lift-up angle settings I...
I can’t access our support account, which is why I’m asking here. The Reddit forum has mostly questions with not much in the way of answers. I thought somebody here might know if there’s another setting camped out in smoother part of Opti that has to be set first or some such before OCC will...
I can not figure out how to get Overcut Compensation to work right. (See screenshot)
No matter what I put in the field, whether negative or positive, tiny or large, the cuts go wild and do not compensate at all — it just makes a mess.
My primary blade overcuts by .25”, so entering -0.25” or...
What's bizarre is, VW makes preview TIF files with alpha masks--but they're inverted. I switched one around in PS, reloaded into VW and it showed up fine, but then on restart VW re-ripped that job and the preview went back to its wonky self. Clearly a bug in VW Dual 1.6
Thanks, Max. Took awhile to realize there are THREE different save buttons, but the only one that DOES save options is hidden behind a dropdown and a flyout. Geez -- they need to seriously revamp the UI on this thing :)
I recall seeing this a looooong time ago, but I cannot remember where this setting is hiding at. It's the 'roost' settings, the place the tool heads and gantry come to rest after a job is completed. Currently, it roosts at 40"X 0"Y and it's annoying. I'd like to set it to roost at 98"X, out of...
I've split work loads between these two printers, and want to match one to the other so the colors are consistent. I know how to match a monitor to a printer, but not match two printers to each other. Is this even possible? How would I do this?
UPDATE: I was misinformed about VW 6's support for our unit -- they accepted our serial number and I got the free upgrade from Dual to 6. Only problem is we're running Win7, so have to wait til I can get my hands on a cheap Win10 box to try it out. Excited to see how well this does!
