I read that story yesterday and could not believe it.... I can't imagine being in that state for 1 year, but 23 years? It almost seems that one would give up and let go of life in this situation.

Don't hold your breath on that one. It is coming, but at fist it will be focused on mobile broadband users, and will only be available in major metropolitan areas. Another 3 or 4 years and we will probably see smartphones with 4G and a larger coverage area.
