Not much you can do besides replacing the head. You can switch to 1 head mode and only print with head one. It'll be slower printing, but you'll be able to print until you decide to replace the head.

There is an ink flush feature, but you need the service software to access it. The only flush you can do without it is on the white/silver channel. With the software, you can do a full flush on all colours, don't even need the cleaning cart for it.

We don't use Onyx, we use Colorgate for our rip. Used Onyx in the past, Colorgate is a better rip. I have 5 printers running off the same rip with no issues.

How you save files makes a big difference, but also the rip you're using. The rip, if its a cheap one, will not render gradients properly. Check your rip, there are sometimes extra settings that help with gradients.

I had this too when replacing someones head, after replacing the main board got a new error. Don't remember the exact wording of the error, but it has to do with the front heater. Now waiting on replacement sub-board to correct that problem.

I have .5" gap, and mine is controlled by my rip.

If your pre-heat is too high for that type of media, and roller pressure is high as well, then it would cause this. Don't run pre-heat higher then 30, I run it off for some of my media's. Give that a try.
