  1. Canadian Ink Supplier

has anyone hugged you yet today Randya? that's awesome, thanks!
  2. Canadian Ink Supplier

anyone know a Canadian supplier for OEM inks, for the 1204 ValueJet? (220 ML Eco-Sol Max) I bought the printer 3 years ago from Mondrian-Hall, and they now tell me "we don't have any ink for this... " Unbelievable... :banghead: I really prefer to use OEM though - but I'm having a hard time...
  3. 2 Color Layering

I always use transparent/clear transfer tape for my top layers, instead of registration marks (squares) which I find WAY easier and more accurate. By the time you cut and apply two layers of vinyl though, it is arguable whether that is cheaper than print/cut/apply a single layer. The only...
  4. Flexi or computer problem??

I guess the real question is then, do you get any (even small) glitches or hesitations in another programs? (especially bigger ones like photoshop) or is the problem unique to Flexi? I know a bad memory module can cause odd problems like that too. If you have more than one "stick" try...
  5. Any suggestions on improving Flexi's rasterizing performance?

regarding another question on your original post os101king, I don't think Flexi 8.1 works with Windows 7 - 64 bit, I think you need one version up from that... which of course, ain't free :( (and don't get me started on THAT little point..) but others here would know for sure....
  6. Any suggestions on improving Flexi's rasterizing performance?

another option I find myself often using these days is Xara software. Technically speaking, its a vector based program (probably a closer cousin to Corel Draw than any other..) but it does an extremely smooth job of converting transparencies, gradients and other "effects" to high res raster...
  7. Flexi or computer problem??

I doubt very much its a video card issue. You've got lots of power there, so I'm thinking either hard drive is getting full or hard drive is failing - or you have something in the background running (possibly unnoticed) that is eating up the CPU power. cntrl+alt+del gets you to the task...
  8. Not a "what would you do?" But a "should I do..."

indeed, my biggest problem with this whole job would be that you absolutely know people will tell him how crappy the job looks, and that will then put 100% of the blame on you, thus damaging your reputation.
  9. 1204 Auto Clenaing Cycle problem

this is not helpful at all but... I have mine set at 6hrs - and have had the beast for about 2 years - in all that time, I have never, ever, once heard it just start up and do a head cleaning cycle. Only time is if I (remember) to run a manual cleaning, or when I send a print job (and its...
  10. Not a "what would you do?" But a "should I do..."

perhaps I'm getting off-topic here.... but for the sake of argument - if we are talking about 100 or 150 pixel wide thumbnails here, of stock photography (watermarks or not ) - and you expand them to a 24 x 36 inch print, are they not going to look insanely, terribly, horribly bad? ! why not...
  11. Any RC Flyers here?

ah, the buddy box system! just about the best idea ever invented for learning to fly RC's. In case you don't know... its a system of linking two radios together, so your instructor can pass / take control of the plane at the flip of a thumb-switch. Very cool! and makes learning a whole...
  12. flexisign pro

I use Flexi for most of my design work. One you have learned it, it is VERY fast to do most types of sign work. As mentioned so many times above - Photoshop for the raster work. However - your original question of Pro vs Print and Cut versions: I use Print and Cut. Couldn't justify the...
  13. Removing ink cartridges before empty, then reusing?

I do something similar in my Valuejet all the time - never had any problems with it. Certainly not with the chip / ink levels. Curious to hear other opinions though..
  14. hard drive clicking?

glad it all worked out! this is good reminder to all though - BACKUP OFTEN! had that been the "main drive" - you would have been out of luck.
  15. Flexi-Sign...who uses it? Poll??

Yep, Flexi is my "main" program. I started in this business 3 years ago, and at that point had never (seriously) used Corel / Illustrator / Flexi. I started out with demo's of all of them. Flexi was WAAAAY easier to get up and running and producing useful material. The topic has been...
  16. contour cut question

just remember though, if its a bitmap (jpg etc) with a white background, its going to contour around the rectangle, not the actual interior graphic. but thats a whole 'nuther problem..
  17. The Proper way to make a ADOBE looking shadow in Flexi

wow.. that is cool! I didn't think that was possible either. True enough, its easier to do in other programs, but ultimately all work ends up back in flexi, and sometimes imports/exports can be a pain - so its nice to know it can be done, should the need arise.
  18. 1080p

I have a 42inch hooked up for a multi-media centre. Awesome for graphics, pics, movies etc.. Load up some internet web pages though, and try to read the text... you can, but its not nearly as sharp as you might expect. As was mentioned before, thats a good a number of pixels - but on a...
  19. Best RIP software for MUTOH

I use Flexi too, and am very happy with print quality, as well as great contour cutting features. Of course, I've never used anything else, so I can't actually "compare" to anything... Also, I have the "Flexi Print and Cut" version - not the Flexi pro - its about 40% cheaper than pro, last I...
  20. Let's play...."What's my computer problem?"

the best pieces of advice I saw here were: running "msconfig" - turn off EVERYTHING in the start up configuration - reboot and see if its ok - if so, turn things on one at a time to find the culprit (do this in safe mode of course, since you can't see any app's in normal mode - but reboot in...
