  1. Making my ink lst longer

I have a 1204, and the clean cycle is set to 6 hours. However, in 5 years I've never once heard it do a cleaning when it's just sitting there, not in use. If 6 hours go by, and I send a print job, it will auto-clean before it starts printing, but that's the only time. Never really had a problem...
  2. Roll Up Banner Stands

we use rite-media "fabric" (good for eco-sol inks) It really does look and feel like "fabric" even though its vinyl coated. Not sure where you get it in the U.S. We get it from All Graphic Supplies in Canada...
  3. Hello from Cobourg Ontario

always great to see a fellow Canadian eh! :thumb: welcome! do you do wholesale work, or strictly retail?
  4. 3D Printer

I'm curious if anyone has looked at / considered / or is using - any of the new 3 Dimensional printers for creating dimensional signage? (instead of CNC routing them) I know most aren't very big, however it seems like you could bond together "tiles" to do some amazing layouts?
  5. Flexi Price!

yep, it has a lot to do with "volume" - much like the sign business, lol. Just price other "specialty" software, and you'll see the same or worse... Autocad comes to mind... Point of Sale (restaurant) software, medical/dental software.... Plus, you've made a living on a "demo" for 6 years - and...
  6. Printer Cons and Pros: 54" vs. 64",74"

taking it from the other end of the spectrum..... I've had a Mutoh 1204 for several years now, which can print a max. of 48 inches (47.25 bi-directional ) It's a pain getting "standard" 54 inch material cut down to 48 inch rolls, and edge-to-edge printing for 4 x 8 sheets is nearly impossible...
  7. 8.6 V2 install disk Lost ! Help.

it was my understanding that Flexi 8.2 will not work with Windows 7 / 64 bit. Which is why I've been dragging my heels / putting off - upgrading my computer. Am I wrong? EDIT: oh, I am wrong! guess I can't read, lol - this is for 8.6 so you're all good. you could have a bad download (delete...
  8. logo critique

for me.... loose the texture background, the "sparklies" (maybe one light-star if you really need something like that) and the effects on the text. The bevel on the graphic looks ok to me.
  9. When is it time?

I'm pretty much at the same place myself, and have been for a while... I think there's a lot more to it than just being able to reduce your own hours worked. Generally, if you're that busy on a steady basis you're likely doing all kinds of things to "hurt" your business and cost you money. Jobs...
  10. Printing large banner w/ Mutoh Valuejet

good point anotherdog, mesh would be a great choice here. That is a big sail to attach to movable gate.... might even be some concern about damaging the gate / hinges in a heavy wind. hehe.... reminds me of the first time I "accidentally" ordered mesh banner... I called the supplier after...
  11. Printing large banner w/ Mutoh Valuejet

I have a 1204 as well, and have definitely seen some of these problems. As for hemming, I always just fold it over - then use something very hard/metal to make a good solid crease. Once its got grommets every 2 ft, it really can't open back up. I'd agree too on feeding some out (5 or 6 feet) to...
  12. Wrap a RC Truck

I've messed with my own a bit - cut some tribals or designs - stick it on the inside (should be a clear body) then paint inside with a solid colour. Actually wrapping... mmmm.... I'm not so sure how that would go or stay.. The bodies are polycarbonate I think, so they're a lot tougher than...
  13. VJ1304 Questions

lol I never claimed I was bright ;) but mainly my point was that different modes have it built-in to be one or the other, and the mode's name gives no indication of that. For some odd reason I had always just assumed it only ran uni-directional printing on the highest resolutions (the 1440 ones)
  14. VJ1304 Questions

well, I have a setup not too far different - a 1204 with Flexi 8.2 I'd say you're probably wise to just go ahead and do samples, so you can see results for yourself - but I'd also time them. I've had mine for about 6 years, and only last month found out some "modes' print bi-directional...
  15. different issues continually really wearing on me

oh, heh.. here's a good point (anti-virus) yes! I switched over to a "two computer system" in my first year at this. My design computer has ONLY design software, I don't do windows updates, I don't go online with it whatsoever - so no anti-virus or other "utilities". A second computer does admin...
  16. different issues continually really wearing on me

the only thing that pops into my mind on this, is that the "media size" (length) is shorter than the space required by the 200 decals - so it thinks you're running out of media, and putting in a new piece. This happened to me once... and it took a while to catch what was going on. Since you're...
  17. Fletcher FSC question for current owners

I was all set to purchase a Fletcher FSC cutter - when I noticed the dimension / space requirements. 100in on a wall / 92 inch free standing. Where I do my "production" has low ceilings - max of 86 inches (and this is between joists! lol ) So short of moving.... would this still be a usable...
  18. And the Mutoh problems march on...Help anyone?

If memory serves .... I think I used a syringe to draw ink into each damper. I think there were actually several forums I found here to help with "damper replacements" I do recall a problem though (which I didn't find in forum threads) if the the 1304 is the same (and pretty sure it is)...
  19. Mutoh 1304 damper change.

I doubt this will help much... but I have a 1204 I did the dampers (and head) about 6 or 7 months ago. I don't remember any special "tricks" to getting it apart, but I do remember a cover over the dampers, that was such a PAIN to get off... I never put it back. It was like 30 minutes of twisting...
  20. Applying long narrow prints

I would have thought that jagged edges and paper particles/dust would present a problem if you just ripped... Guess its worth a try though! I'll give it a test run on something smaller, lol.:Big Laugh At least no one's given me one of these moments  with something obvious I've been just...
