  4. Has anyone had this problem with their Summa cutter? (or it's native software)

on mine.... there's a little set-screw on each side of the arm that holds the eye. These had come loose, so it would wobble all over and miss the mark. Snugged them up, and all good. A second problem (still to this day, 3 years later...) I've calibrated it - yet I always have to start it out a...

  6. Radius Cutter

anyone have any recommendations / experience for a tool to cut radius corners on 3mm dibond/alupanel and maybe .060 gauge aluminum? Nothing too fancy or high volume... just to make it a little nicer / faster than sanding or filing. Thanks, Conor

I use Xara as well - awesome program. However, I would think any of the vector programs - illustrator, corel draw, etc would work?
  8. Hello From Ottawa

a big welcome from Kingston, ON. on a COLD Canadian morning!
  9. CorelCAD

wondering if anyone is using / tried CorelCAD for their 3D design work? I don't use Corel Draw a lot, but some, and its certainly quite a good program. I know there's many here who do most of their design work in Corel Draw though, so it seemed a natural extension, that some might use CorelCAD I...
  10. how much printing after low ink warning?

not sure its the same, but on my Mutoh, I can print until the printer (not my computer) tells me its completely empty, it stops printing - then I can hot-swap a new cartridge in (meaning leave printer on, don't touch the print in progress..) and it will continue printing right where it left off...
  11. 3 d printing is anybody doing it and how are u making money

I have ordered one through a kickstarter campaign: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1650950769/rigidbot-3d-printer two of my biggest considerations were good resolution, and the biggest build platform I could find. The "Rigidbot Big" is bigger than most. I'm hoping to do my tinker / tweak /...

  13. CMYK not original...vj1204

  14. CMYK not original...vj1204

yeah, really - share the info! I'm sure many would like to hear it.
  15. what shop truck to buy?

Avalanche I got a Chev Avalanche this year, and am very happy with the "utility" of it! It looks like a short-box, but the back seats fold down, so you can put a 4 x 8 sheet in and close the tailgate. With the tonneau cover on in place and tailgate closed, its an "airtight" box/cargo area(Lol...
  16. Why do people try to haggle with sign shops?

I think "haggling" just happens a lot in all small business. People know they are either dealing directly with an owner, or at least a manager with a lot of authority. They assume owners will do anything to make a sale... and too often it's true. Should we get angry at "them" for asking?.... or...
  17. Realty Sign Pricing

36 x 36 is poor size to be "efficient" if your panels come in 4 x 8 sheets? (you can only get 2 to a sheet) 4mm coro, 24 x 32 - single side / no lam (they're temporary signs) / I get $18 each for them
  18. How Much Time for Box Truck?

my final quote is based on a per sq. ft. price. However to get an accurate cost of this price, I need know the labor cost. Or what the labor cost "should be" once we're experienced and much more proficient. I agree, you wouldn't want to lower your pricing just because you're faster (than the...
  19. How Much Time for Box Truck?

thanks for the replies all. I think from the overall feedback I'm going to base it on 6 hours for 2 guys (12 man-hours) and whatever more it takes us, I'll consider that "education cost" lol. My opinion is "we need to learn this skill" but there's no reason the customer should pay for our lack...
  20. How Much Time for Box Truck?

I have an 18 foot box truck to wrap - just the two sides ( about 7 ft high). I don't do a lot of these, so I know I'm still on the bottom side of the learning curve.... but wondering how long most shops take to do this? I always seem to calculate waaaaay under.... But if I charged based how long...
