  1. Adding Summa D120 to Flexi 8.1

so, setting up a new computer.... all is going well, except when I try to add my Summa D120 to the production manager. The plotter is on the list of course, but no "USB" option - only Com ports, etc. I'm sure I must have solved this before.... but for the life of me, I can't remember how! Any...
  2. Clean Cut Blades

agreed! these guys have a great product, great prices and great service.
  3. Creating a 3D object. Help Please!

here's a free 3D model of frog. Don't know if the file can be converted to something useful for a CNC router.... but if it can, why re-invent the wheel? http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:36781
  4. Mutoh cost of ink 12c a sq ft? Come on...

$0.12 does sound pretty cheap. I have a 1204 with a bulk ink system, and figure it at about 20 cents. Though I've never actually checked / calculated with the bulk system, but when I first got it, using the OEM inks - a rough count gave me about 60 cents a foot. Bulk I'm paying about a third of...
  5. Rite Media Fleet Bundle

just looking at that again - and it looks like a calendar product anyway... so I use Oracal 3651 - Air Release / Oracal 210 lam - which will be about $500 for the two rolls.
  6. Rite Media Fleet Bundle

I've used some rite-media products from All Graphic Supplies, though not this particular product. Mostly the "cheap" stuff.... and I won't use it anymore. I had all kinds of little problems with it. Things like the paper liner/backing wouldn't peel well, some I couldn't use any heat at all when...
  7. Wrapping with calendered

well, that just got me curious - so I went back and looked it up. It was the Oracal 3651 we used - definitely calendared. $260 / 54inch roll.
  8. Wrapping with calendered

I did a box trailer last summer with Oracal Calendared with air-release. (I think it was 3751, but I'd have to look it up) Laminated with 210 lam (however I've read here many times you can put cast lam on calendared vinyl, but not the other way around) My understanding of cast vs calendared is...
  9. How Do YOU Weed Text Inside a Border?

I'd agree with just using a knife, if its just one piece, however if there's a bunch of them to do, it can definitely save time to put cut/weed lines in! Personally, I just make some quick rectangles around the sections of text I want to have weed lines - then when I go to cut, I select all...
  10. New Printhead may be required

I got one for a 1204 from macmedia.com He actually switched me over to an Epson head, which was close to half the price of the original mutoh. Great guy to deal with too.
  11. VJ 1204 Carriage bearing clip broken

you could also try www.macmedia.com he's got way more stuff than he lists on his website, and is a great guy to deal with.
  12. gray looks pinkish

I had a similar problem a while back. Did all kinds of "adjustments" and used different profiles, trying to work around it... In the end, I had some cyan nozzles not firing - a new print head was the only solution (and been good ever since) This did show up in the nozzle checks though.
  13. Trimmer ???????????????????????

I think it depends what you want to trim? For substrates as light as coro but up 3mm Alupanel - I recently got a Fletcher FSC. It changed my life.... I just sorry I waited so long to get one!
  14. Distressed Look

wow, those are awesome ideas! I knew I came to the right place for this :signs101: Thanks all, I'll git'er done!
  15. Distressed Look

anyone have any good and/or simple ways to take a solid vector graphic (or text) and give it a "distressed" look? As in... cracks, faded areas, etc. The finished result would be for digital print, not for cutting. I'm using Flexi - but I could easily size the vector and export it - then edit it...
  16. Mutoh VJ1204 VJ1604 VJ2606

I could certainly use one for the 1204. gansignworks@gmail.com Thanks!
  17. Oh boy! I get to do some research tonite on a new cutter.

I've had a Summa D120 for 3 years now, and have never owned a piece of equipment that works so flawlessly. My main reason for this particular brand, over the others was that from what I read, it had the best "accuracy" of them all. I do a lot of print / cut graphics, and it's ability to find...
  18. Exterior Routered Letter install

This not something I've really done much of at all - so I'm reading this thread with some interest, for learning purposes (I'd much rather learn from everyone else's mistakes, than my own! lol ) But I'm really wondering why there's so much use of silicone "caulking" as an adhesive, when there...
  19. Need simple web page design software

I use Xara myself, but I don't like their upload features/program either. I just "export" my website - then use Coffee Cup (free) FTP program to upload all the files to my site. Generally pretty painless.
  20. Print Head Issue

I have a VJ1204. Mine was doing exactly the same thing about a year and a half ago. I found if I fully powered it off (off / unplug / push power button discharge capacitors) it would reset and clear. Sometimes I'd have to try 2 or 3 times. Then it would work fine for a few days.... or 20...
