  1. Roland VP-540

The heads will not print a wavy pattern like that of the ValueJet. The advancements to the head are mainly for Roland internal use and firmware changes. I have 2 on order and they are backordered for the time being.

Maybe this would shed a bit of light on it... if not, still good to know. http://www.rolanddga.com/rnet30/files/support/a0217e9d.pdf
  3. Trouble printing Bergin Fills w/flexi

What version of Flexi are you using ? I have seen all kinds of issues when the Lens Effect is used with design but have not run across a fill not printing... Is the fill visible in the RIP/Print screen?
  4. Print Halting ! ! !

If the original file is able to be opened and parsed by Flexi, the file should be fine. Seems to be the process of RIP'ing the file that is causing the issue here. By the way, what version of Flexi and OS ? Any issues ripping/printing other files?
  5. Print Halting ! ! !

Export the Flexi file as EPS and then import into new file... then send to RIP.

  9. friction fed vinyl trouble

Very well could be a "coned" pinch roller wheel as well.... Very common with rubber coated wheels, such as the Roland's. Summa's tend to be a hard plastic and do not wear that bad but it is possible. Check to see if the tracking problem can be reproduced with a scrap sheet of vinyl about 3...
  10. Flexi 7.6 unrecoverable error

A bit of hardware information may be helpful as well... Processor, Video Card, Memory, etc... You may also try to uncheck the 'Smooth Screen Disply' option in the General tabs within Preferences. Correct me if I am wrong Matthew but I have seen a lot of sluggish systems when this option is...

  14. 300 to 540

Use the machine as hard as you can, get the extended warranty and when you are ready to fork out the cash for a bigger model, weigh your options and either sell 300 for 5 or 6k with a warranty and put that towards the bigger model. Dealers are now cutting prices on the 300v and 540v as a...

  17. Flexi8 and Vista

Flexi will not fully function in Vista... SAi has not officially released information on Vista compatibility but on their forums, they have stated that the majority of the incompatibility is on the third party drivers that allow Flexi to operate, not the program itself. Seeing as the...
  18. Cartridge empty? I don't think so!

I have also seen the cartridges bend or bow out that prohibits the tab from extending out far enough to trip the sensors... I am speaking of Roland machines... Have no experience with Mimaki and limited use on Mutoh's
  19. Cartridge empty? I don't think so!

If you have the time, you could weigh an empty cart and new cart and record the numbers... then power off the machine and unplug. Remove carts and weigh again... should be able to get a ratio of what is left based off of these 3 numbers. Plug back in and power back on... Should not reset...
  20. Cartridge empty? I don't think so!

Rolands are the same and I have seen many occasion where the 440ml carts may not trigger the ink empty at all due to the bag of ink in the cart seperating from the side of the cartridge... Hopefully new versions of the printers (all manuf.'s) will go to an Integrated Chip system or possibly...
