    If this printer predates the great lockout, and I think it does, you probably just need the sequence right. Try tapping down, then right, then left, then start holding down in this order: right, down, left, power.

    My first question, is where did you swap the cables? If the result is the same whether you swap at the board or the carriage, then obviously it's a headboard problem. If it's different, then it's a cable problem.

    You sure it's not the data cable for the cut carriage getting tangled? That would explain it happening on the one side and the scan motor error.

    Thanks... basically, if we do a test print, then it prints a solid yellow band all the way back to the home position after the test.
