  3. Need Help Graphtec contour cutting length

We have a graphtec 8600, and it seems over time we can only manage to cut 12 to 15 foot lengths. Anything more it does not seem to be able to find the registration marks and registers a read error. Reading the manual it says it should easily cut up to 100 ft? Any advice on adjusting or...

  5. Septic Tank Wrap

Here's a few ideas: use knifeless tape to cut the tough seams, and overlay the lettering, after the tank is wrapped. It will be easier than you think. Here's two of these we did. I thought they would be much harder, but once we broke it down, it wasn't bad at all. Good luck!
  6. Well, it's finally happening...

I like to look at areas of my business where I can coordinate, broker or make a sale at as profit centers. Wraps is a profitable area, that can easily expand your profits and you don't necessarily have to be the wrapper, just the coordinator. Securing an independent installer who bids each...
  7. New Profit Center For Your Sign Shop

I would say "Brokering" work I am not capable of doing, or can do cheaper partnering with a sign wholesale/installer. Nothing too small when we go in this direction. Channel letters, monuments, pole signs etc. We try to partner with a reputable company and at least make a piece of something...

  9. Percent of Jobs by sales price

We are a 5 year old sign shop, myself, my wife, and 4 employees. I put the money in our web presence, monthly. It's just as important as the rent. We started this a couple of years ago. It saved us and continues to push us forward. We are receiving about 200 calls a month of all types of...
  10. Latex 360 printing on Briteline 80/20 "vertical banding"

I could use your experiences. I have a latex 360, that I am using to print window perf. Using Briteline 80/20. I have all new print heads, done all the maintenance and cleanings, perf settings are 90% color saturation, heat is at 194, interpass delay is at 600. I'm getting vertical banding...
  11. Bleed not holding in Onyx 12

Today while printing I noticed that ONYX had dropped the bleed settings on my print. The original file was 47" wide x 108" tall. I added an inch bleed to the panel all the way around, which should of made the print 49" x 110". While printing I noticed that the bleed line was printing in some...
  12. Need Help Canvas Boxing Ring Graphics - What type of material?

This is what I'm talking about. I appreciate your help. Thank you.
  13. Need Help Canvas Boxing Ring Graphics - What type of material?

We have a client that would like a vinyl logo applied to his "canvas" 16'x 16' boxing ring. He says he was told by another signmaker that he could use vinyl to do this. Being I have never tried that, I cautioned him to give me a minute to get the skinny on this, and see if that is in fact...
  14. What is causing these scratches?

Sometimes with perf or mesh, even with the correct ICC profile, the heat will cause the material to warp/bend/ whatever. With our Latex 360 we turn down the heat almost 20-25 degrees. Another thing we have found is over years of use, inside the printer, on the edges of most areas where vinyl...
  15. Discussion Perforated Window Vinyl - Best for flat panel windows?

I would really appreciate your experience and opinions on the best product type to fit our printer. I have never really cared for the output/look of our perforated vinyl prints, and would appreciate any tips in material type or print application that would make these look a bit richer in color...
  16. Removing printed fleet wraps

We also use a steamer. We looked them up at Image one, but found that home depot sells the same model without the foam tips for less that half the price. Also Ace Hardware sells plastic razor blades, (only place I have found them so far), Glad to listen in on this one, and will definitely try...
  17. Bubble Cube Van layout?

I'd either follow the line off the front fender crease, or level off the floor. Best response is talk to the client and explain the choices, before costing yourself vinyl, labor and time?
  18. HP 26500

toodark - this just happened with ouy HP Latex 360. Error message says faulty ink catridge also. It is the "PIP" sensors located where the ink tips from the ink cartridge is received by the machine. One went out, then shortly after 3 more slots failed. Still waiting for the remaining slots...
