  1. HP DesignJet 3500CP

Brings back memories, this was my 2nd large format printer. It's slow, painfully slow and expensive to run. I had trouble with the ink filling since it doesn't have lines to the printheads so it docks them against some valves from the ink carts and fills the heads after each print. Obsolete by...
  2. changing pinch roller assemblies, How?

The pinch rollers have a large play from side to side and that's normal. Is the rubber on them worn? Have you checked the grit rollers for dirt, they can get quite messy after a while and then you have material slipping. Just my .02, hope you get it sorted!
  3. Used Roland VP 540; should I buy it with the following issues...?

You do realize you have a lot of negotiating power for the price if you want the printer and think you can fix it up. 3k sounds high for a non-functioning printer to me... Treat it like it's a parts machine without expensive spare parts in good condition in it such as heads and offer a price...
  4. Squeaking VS-640

Update: I checked the belt and pulley and it runs smooth and centered so it doesn't run up to the edge on the pulley. I cleaned and lubed the rail once again and run some more of the full width material and now the squeaking seem to have disappeared somewhat if not totally gone. I think it was...
  5. Mimaki CJV30 or Roland Versacamm SP

Is your current printer running a lot and/or need replacing? If it's OK for your needs now then why not invest in a cutter that reads cropmarks? Less investment and you can cut separately from the printer if you mostly do laminated graphics? If you mostly run unlaminated decals you are better...
  6. Will eco solvent ink cure if you don't heat it?

We print a bit on the R-tape FX chrome with Roland eco-sol and we print, wait a few days to a week(!), laminate and cut. Works well but then we also don't cut right to the colours. It's very important to not cut near the colours otherwise it will curl like nothing else. We also use little to no...
  7. Summa S160 D series

I have the opportunity to buy a used Summa S160 D-series and would like to know if it reads OPOS marks or is there also models that don't have the reader for the marks from this series cutters? The company selling it doesn't deal with these machines and doesn't know anything about it. It's a bit...
  8. noah's ark came to my shop...

So sorry to hear about his! This is exactly why you pay ridiculous insurance fees year after year, let them know what happened and get the most out of your insurance right away! Good luck!
  9. Squeaking VS-640

Thanks a lot for the reply, the scan motor has only about 650 hours on it and hasn't been changed, so I guess it should be OK. I'll check out the belt and pulley!
  10. Squeaking VS-640

My VS-640 is running great, but one thing worries me, when running only 54" wide material (which the printer probably has done most of) the carriage gives a little "squeak" or "squeal" when changing directions at the end of the pass (only on the return pass). When running 64" or other width...
  11. I need a carriage cover

Digiprint-supplies.com seem to have them, if you don't find it anywhere more nearby. Good luck!
  12. Rastek. Seriously???

Thanks for the input and all of the input of this forum, that makes it a lot easier to weed out the junk and not having to spend time on even evaluating those printers that people say aren't working well. Much better to bite the bullet and fork out more for a good one than having to struggle...
  13. Rastek. Seriously???

A shop quite nearby is trying to sell their H650. The price is really tempting, but after reading all the horror stories I guess I shouldn't even consider it - or should I?
  14. Some pics of my small but efficient storefront!

Nice with the vinyls in different colours showing in the window. Tidy shop! :thumb:
  15. Versaworks ripping but not printing

Found out one day when I had this problem I had TWO instances of VW running, when I closed VW normally only one instance closed and the other still showing active in task manager. Forced the remaining instance to close in task manager and restarted VW, and it worked properly. Don't remember if...
  16. Roland Unreliable and Expensive

Sorry to hear about your story, but... seven head boards???!!! Geez, what did the tech say when you replaced the 3rd, 4th or 5th board? "Naah, it must be a bad board again, let's try another one..."
  17. Versaworks ripping but not printing

+1 what player said. What printer and OS do you run? We have the same issue now and then with an SP-300V with USB connection, but sometimes clearing out the job queue resolves the problem, sometimes it just fixes itself after reboot...
  18. bringing offset inhouse

I might be wrong but didn't OCE recently launch a toner based large format printer for this application? E.g. Posters and other stuff printed on paper. Fast, cheap and immidiately dry. Might be worth looking into. I wouldn't try a solvent machine since the poster paper takes forever to dry as...
  19. how much printing after low ink warning?

The low ink warning in VW comes on when you have about 20-25% left I think. A more reliable check is to go trough the menu on the printer itself (ink remaining). It's showing more "steps" in the levels than the four VW has. If you haven't discarded the old cart yet you can still pop it back in...
  20. HP Designjet T520 Thermal Inkjet 24" ePrinter

Not sure about the price level in Singapore but as Player says you might find a used Sp300V or similar for maybe 3-4 k. Don't buy a really cheap used machine, they usually need a few new heads and a couple more spare parts and you end up with spending more to get it running. Sorry, but these are...
