  1. Seriously can't take it much longer.

I've enjoyed business since I like talking to different people etc. but last Friday I had a customer standing on my front porch when I got home later than usual from work, exhausted and just been food shopping with two large bags of food. The guy just started taking about this clothes he wanted...
  2. Air release question

Regarding the transfer tape they might wanted to protect the decal from scratches from the squeegee when applying...?
  3. need to rant..

I on the other hand usually get just a pdf that's an image (even from Ad Agencies), so I don't have that problem. No, I can't edit it because it's an picture with a gazillion photoshop effects on it. No, it's STILL AN IMAGE FILE, EVEN IF YOU PUT "VECTOR" IN THE FILE NAME ON THE SAME FILE!!!! (I...
  4. Roland XR-640 Ink Droppout

Don't clean on the surface of the head, just around it (on the edges of it). Your dealer who set it up should have showed you how to clean it. You could also check out videos and/or your instruction manual to perform the cleaning correctly, otherwise you COULD damage the printhead... Good luck...
  5. What's your biggest signmaking mistake

Didn't think it was necessary to put out all support legs on the lift (the kind you tow behind a car) since it "felt so sturdy". The safety switch was conviniently bypassed with a switch by my granddad =). Went up in the bucket, turned the boom on the lift to the side and got a "sinking...
  6. Is Microsoft Word Art Copywritten

And I thought my customers was crazy when one today sent me a 2kb (yes, kilobytes) large jpg and asked if it looks good as a 15"x15" on the sides on his van. Seriously the worst so far. Couldn't resist but to print a smaller draft out on the copier, he understood the problem quickly seeing 20...
  7. Soljet XF

I hope it will pop up some used XC:s now when the guys need to get the latest model, the XC would do fine for me
  8. The next step...an employee

Yep, as said above. I hired (my first employee) a graphic designer who does design AND production. She also takes care of the customers coming in to pick up/order something and I must say that was my best hire ever, took away a lot of my stress and boosted production. But make sure you try out...
  9. Help. Roland versaworks too much spacing!!

I've noticed that the spacing you see with the customcut page size being larger than the series of prints that you run, you see a white spacing in the preview window but it actually don't waste that when printing. You should also set your "page spacing" to 0 or a small value.
  10. Fuzzy registration mark printing?

I thought I was going crazy noticing the same on my machine the other day - until I realized I had left the head in "high" position from printing banners the previous day. Didn't notice on anything else but just the crop marks...
  11. Digital sign war in Los Angles spills into the public

Heh, they put up a huge digital billboard here in the town centre right across an apartment building. I guess the people living there do love the ads for "reduced price" flashing in their bedrooms at midnight. It's bright and ugly as **** even in the middle of the day...
  12. can't find crop marks

Glossy laminate? Try to put a piece of matte laminate over the cropmarks? Otherwise you'll have to align manually...
  13. Sign Financing?

If we are talking finance, doesn't the finance/leasing company you work with bear the risk against the customer? E.g. the financing company pays you an agreed amount fully and then charges the customer each month etc.? At least that's the arrangements on other financing areas I've seen (as most...
  14. How to cut a 90ft roll on my SP300

I don't think the printing will cause any problems, printing full 150 ft rolls all the time on a 540 and never had a problem with drifting if you load it somewhat straight, use media flanges (good ones) and the stoppers for the media flanges. But I hope you have a take-up reel, otherwise the...
  15. Brother-Jet Mini/Small Direct White ink UV Flatbed Printer

It looks good on pics but do you have a dealer nearby to visit and see the machine in action? Can you get spares if something goes wrong? Inks, profiles? The price is tempting but I'd go with a brand name printer if you just can afford it. The Roland LEF for example is under 30k with UV inks and...
  16. Every Heard of a Emblem EASYLAM Junior V Laminator??

Think I saw this one on an exhibition once when I looked for laminators a couple years ago, it didn't appear too sturdy and as the advertising says it is for beginners. I like to have at least a good chunk of iron in my laminator (the Emblem weighs 60 kg, my current laminator the double at...
  17. Contour-crop cuts off

You don't have dirty or worn pinchrollers, do you? Take a check and clean/replace them if needed. Could help if the cut is more off on the longer cuts.
  18. photo impact printer

We have the MPX-70, bought used just for fun. It really gives nice pics on jewellery and pendants, and the result is a very special product with almost a holographic appearence. Very appreciated as a gift and with the right pictures and right settings the result is really good looking. The...
  19. Looking for used print/cut machine

30" is quite limited width wise, you'll wish everyday you'd have at least a 54" wide machine, especially if it's going to be your main/only printer. Just sayin'... A Versacamm is a good choice, but as a car dealer I know use to say; "there isn't a such thing as a cheap Mercedes, either you pay...
  20. Thinking of buying laminator

Yeah, and roll-to-roll, 50 metres at one shot is no problem...
