  1. win 8.1 coming out. and technet is killed.

Been using win since 3.11 and the 8 is... not good for productivity. It is as you said a consumer product, but I really miss a business oriented version, seems as MS forgot people actually do some work with their computers also... But maybe it'll get better when the start menu returns.
  2. Going crazy!! try to cut Cast laminate with either Cal or Cast printed vinyl.

Do you use a good and SHARP 60 degree knife? Had the same issues, switched to 60 degree knife instead of 45 on laminated prints - woohoo, now it weeds like a dream. Remember to change your offset though...
  3. The Importance Of Organization

Good to hear you're on the right track and thanks for a good reading! I feel we are in the same situation you was in before e.g. lacking organization and priorities, and being late with a lot of projects. I would like to ask how the staff has taken on this change, do they work with the project...
  4. Mimaki JV3-160SP shop with parts

I'm not 100% sure about that so you'd better email them and ask for the specific parts if they are genuine or not. If you want to be 100% sure to get genuine parts, why not turn to your Mimaki dealer? Don't think the prices are THAT much different from a webshop and you get support also (if you...
  5. Mimaki JV3-160SP shop with parts

Have you tried www.digiprint-supplies dot com? They sell Mimaki parts from Belgium so shipping in Europe is no problem, works very well.
  6. How to get grey color

Instead of increasing black, try to increase cyan instead. Gives you a cooler gray. Other than that you need to look into color management/profiling. Roland also have a guide for printing greys. The file is called "rvw_printinggrey.pdf"...
  7. Reverse Print Decals

Thanks a 1000!! I recently did a bunch of similar decals (turned out great) but never realized how to use crop marks (the decals I made was just squares). Great advice, will try the masking tape next time!
  8. Will printer STOP or Run out of Ink? Always been curious...

According to the users manual you could set the behaviour under menu->ink Control->empty mode and either set it to cont. or stop. When set to "stop" the machine stops and prompts you to change cartridge. If set to "cont." it continues to print even if the cartridge is empty. Page 97 in the...
  9. Will printer STOP or Run out of Ink? Always been curious...

You can set the printer behaviour when it runs out of ink yourself, if it should stop or continue. The manual describes this. On our Rolands they stop when the cart is empty and you just pop a new one in and it continues where it stopped, so you don't need to waste the long banner.
  10. XJ-740 - Black

The cleaning solution should drain after a couple of seconds as they do on your other colours, so my guess is you have a blocked drain line from the damper. Try to resolve that first. Good luck!
  11. Oracal 651 Orange Pantone??

    GREAT chart, thank you!!:thankyou:
  12. Oracal 651 Orange Pantone??

Can't you just use a cmyk code instead? I doubt there's an exact Pantone conversion. CMYK 2, 81, 100, 0 according to this: http://www.salierdruck.de/downloadable/download/sample/sample_id/156/
  13. Table Top Wraps Don't Hold

Try floor laminate? It's matte but it holds up quite well...
  14. White Printer Vinyl Not Sticking to Aluminum Substrate

+1 to this, we also use paint thinner on very greasy aluminium, stinks but is needed to get good adhesion.
  15. Saving Versworks files HELP

Try and save BOTH the source file and the VW file from VW on the server, e.g. when you open the save job dialogue you can choose to save only the .rvw file or .rvw file AND the source file. There's a dropdown box under the file name field if I remember correctly...
  16. Anyone else just totally slammed right now?

Here in Europe we are also slammed with work, no idea where this will end but we are working very long days right now... Strangely also a lot of cut vinyl jobs, HUGE large cut vinyl graphics (and reflective) on trucks, signs etc. Can't wait until the VS-640 arrives in a couple of weeks to speed...
  17. Can't find crop marks??

Sometimes it can help to put a piece of matte lam over the crop marks (if you have a high-gloss media). Worth a shot if you have tried Everything else... Other than that you should be able to manually align the crop marks but how it's done on the cutter you have I'm a bit unsure of. Hope you get...
  18. Not printing crisp reds anymore...

The test print looks quite ok, you did say you had the encoder strip replaced and after that the red got fuzzy or? The only thing I can come up with is to clean the encoder strip and sensor and do all the calibrations, but maybe someone has another clue? Good luck!
  19. Not printing crisp reds anymore...

Is the test print OK? Is the head height set to low? What machine is it? Does it do it on all media? Do you have a pic of the problem?
  20. Poster Printer

As much as I love the Rolands I would go with a latex for your specific use just because of the drying time on paper (you can cut them directly without fearing smears etc. on high coverage prints). The maintenance is also perhaps a tad easier on the latex? If you definately want eco-solvent then...
