  1. Your thoughts of new Epson's SureColor wide format printer.

Whoever said it's +-4 mm / 100 mm is wrong, had to look it up since it sounded so awful. In Epsons own 53 page brochure on page 34 they point out that the machine has very good feed accuracy of 0,4 mm / 50 meters (164 ft)...
  2. How should you clean area before placing decals?

Don't use window washer fluid for cars, had a customer that cleaned his car with it(!?) before applying his decals (yes, yes, he saved a couple bucks to do-it-himself). The decals peeled about 2-3 hours later, and of course he asked for replacement. This was the first time I had any failure with...
  3. Looking to hire my 1st employee .. - Not sure where to start-

It has its advantages, but what happens if the "employee" hurts himself more or less badly while on your workplace? Cuts off a finger, get run over, drops down seriously sick on your shop floor or something other terrible. That can cost you a lot lot more than the regular fees on top of the...
  4. Looking to hire my 1st employee .. - Not sure where to start-

+1 Make a sign on your door perhaps? Tell people you're hiring, word will spread.
  5. Versaworks Freezes/Quits

As a workaround if it's just these files, could you save them in another format? E.g. If they are jpg you could try to save them as tif or eps or vice versa?
  6. Solar Gard - good, bad, opinions?

Hey, that's a really good tip for suitable windows! Thanks! Of course you have to watch what kind of window it is so you don't end up with the panel in your lap, but I think it would be more easy if you can remove the trim as you said. I know the supplier recommends you to cut the film a bit...
  7. Gimme my money!!

    Collection Agency?
  8. Solar Gard - good, bad, opinions?

Thank you all for the great replies, yes I have always turned down these jobs thinking it's a pain but since we are at a region with few installers it's hard to find someone to do it. I Think I'll give the first place (where the windows are up high) a shot anyhow, but if it seems troublesome I...
  9. Solar Gard - good, bad, opinions?

We are having a couple of customers who wants window tints and/or film on their windows to reduce solar light (irritates the workers at one place) and heat (on the other location). At the first place it's hopefully a piece of cake because the windows are 5-6 meters (16-19 feet) up so a small...
  10. Getting my first real storefront. Any tips or tricks on setting it up?!

If I would have a walk-in storefront I'd probably try to upsell everyone that comes in with some cheap bulk product that you could have in a basket or shelf near the counter, sort of easy to look at and "Hey, there's that keychain/squeegee/Surface cleaner spray/measure tape/masking tape/sticky...
  11. what would u charge for digitally printed heat transfer?

+1 Good Point! Works perfectly and never had any problems with using standard transfer tape.
  12. Print Pricing

As some posters already mentioned make friends with a local (or online) digital printer and collect the cash according to bob:s post. I would never go offset with these quantities, only if the customer really, really insists. Digital Printing today is really good quality for the price. Good luck!
  13. Help please

I have a larger one, the 60 inch. Worked very well for the price, but very very noisy, stepper motors and overall build quality/accuracy is... okay. I nowdays use mostly my large Roland cutter but when in a hurry to get simpler cuttings out it works ok. For the price I'd say it's a good value...
  14. Roland Printer will not read Reg marks on the lower half of print!

This could also be one issue, I've had material that we didn't load in straight. The first marks read properly, but when it fed to the back ones the media had skewed so much the crop mark was almost under the pinch roller, and then the machine won't read it, giving the same error message...
  15. Roland Printer will not read Reg marks on the lower half of print!

If you are in a pinch you could use manual alignment until you get tech support. Your user manual describes these steps. Good luck!
  16. Vinyl Removal: Heat Gun vs. Steamer

I har a removal on a van with large, old, cracked and baked-in calendered vinyl on it. The heat gun gave me small chips and would have taken a week. The stripper wheel worked well but I had just a small one that would have taken forever on the large areas. Luckily I read (I think it was on this...
  17. Cutting Force on a Brand New VS640 is really weak

How does your cutting strip look? No cuts in it or? How does the test cut work on the material? If you are in a pinch you could try to set it to cut twice in Versaworks but you really should not need to have the pressure that high anyways... And I don't think the Mimaki works flawless all...
  18. can i leave print on take up reel and head straight for the laminator?

Yes you can! At least I do it all the time and have not had any problems even with full rolls (print and laminate entire roll at once). I usually leave it overnight and I've not experienced it needs to dry/outgas any more at all than that. Good luck!
  19. Do I have a head going bad?

The nozzle check looks good, the small deflections shouldn't give you that much banding IMO. Have you performed any calibrations lately, media feed, bi-dir, env. match etc.? Have you tried a head soak (but do the calibrations first)? Does this happen in uni-dir also?
  20. digiprint-supplies??

If it's the same you're thinking about: digiprint-supplies.com I ordered a take-up system from them and everything went smoothly as it should. Apart from the shipping company sending one part of the package across half of Europe to arrive a couple days delayed, but that's not the suppliers fault...
