  1. Reverse glass people... tell me what I did wrong!

David Smith is awesome! I should apply some of these techniques. Looks fun. But I can only emulate... I can't draw from scratch the way some of these actual "Artists" do. But I can move a brush nicely. I just don't really care to, as it doesn't hold my interest...
  2. Reverse glass people... tell me what I did wrong!

Thanks, but granted I didn't actually have any REAL 23K gold leaf on hand! I'm sure that makes a difference. I just went to that gold leaf site glassgilding.com, and most of the examples were textured. However, I can see where some of them on the very inside outline did have what appeared to be...
  3. Reverse glass people... tell me what I did wrong!

Here's briefly the steps that I did it in... First I cut the vinyl in reverse, mounted it, leaving only the area I wanted the gold leaf. Then I sprayed that area with some 3M mounting adhesive. I obviously used too much, and I could have even masked off the other letters a little better too...
  4. P95 Acrylic laminating

If this is going outside don't use film. Besides, you'd need to use optically clear double sided mounting adhesive. Have you seen how much that stuff costs compared to a can of Weld-On?
  5. How bad did I do!! Shop van wrap design.

OK, here's a super wrapper's tip for ya... when designing the thing, be sure to design the mirror image side. I'm betting your logo will look weird on the right hand side. Like it's going down hill.
  6. Reverse glass people... tell me what I did wrong!

Look I made a guilded sign in about 30 minutes. Doesn't seem like it should be so hard to do anymore. I used spray adhesive. Then backed the gold leaf with yellow vinyl to protect it.
  7. Reverse glass people... tell me what I did wrong!

This is cool and gives me a really great idea. I've applied gold leaf and sizing to quite a few projects. To me it's not that hard. Not that I know anything about old fashioned guilding techniques, but I'm going to try a modern technique.
  8. P95 Acrylic laminating

I wouldn't waste the P95 on the two bottom layers. But even still, I'd probably try to opt that the center piece be regular acrylic. You are going to need a really flat smooth table. The ability to shim the edges of the acrylic (with razor blades works pretty good) Secondly, you'll need to put...
  9. P95 Acrylic laminating

P95 is only non-glare on one side. So let me get this straight... the sign needs to be 3/4" thick, and you are trying to sandwich 3 pieces to get total thickness? Or is there a print mounted/printed to the center piece of acrylic? Because that really makes a difference in how to approach this.
  10. Roland VS-540 yellow blochy printing bands

Wipe off ink with acetone. Then install. Wipe off the encoder strip with denatured alcohol.
  11. Employee skills test?

Why is their family group known as a "Murder"? I was a victim of food theft from a Myna Bird as a young child. I had a baggie of homemade cornbread that was given to me for a long boat ride around the island of Fiji from Nadi to Suva. The bird, always crept up from behind and stole pieces and...
  12. Revamp this logo without changing the look

I don't even have it installed on my computer. (Along with a few other fonts I hate and refuse to use) If I have to replicate that brush scripty look, I'll bend and use Bermuda. It's just slightly different enough. But I've got about a million other awesome scripty fonts I'd choose to use instead.
  13. How bad did I do!! Shop van wrap design.

Thanks. It was your mention of the KAWPOW that sparked the idea... "Oh yeah... I know exactly what to do now!" I wasn't even going to reply to this thread if it weren't for your suggestion. I felt compelled to it! :Big Laugh
  14. Question for someone who really knows, I guess that means Fred.......................

I'm not suggesting using an actual reseller's license to gain access here. I was merely illustrating that in some industries and companies that sell wholesale use that as a roadblock to the uninitiated. Besides that would eliminate access to those who do this out of their homes, who maybe aren't...
  15. Question for someone who really knows, I guess that means Fred.......................

I'm suggesting paid membership becoming standard. But really low monthly fee, with auto billing. Like between $5 - $10 range. (And maybe a one time $30 fee for a month's worth of access just to peek around or get some tech help...) It's not a lot, but what it will do is separate the wheat from...
  16. Sq Ft Charges

    Gawd, I'd hope so! :omg:
  17. Sq Ft Charges

But having to outlay $24 million to get it? Buy something for $24, then turn around and sell it to your client for $25. You Happy? (Then think of the taxes you gotta pay on that $1 million in earnings) I think that's just bad maths, and huge stress and burden until you actually finish the...
  18. Revamp this logo without changing the look

The problem with those generic mountain vectors, is that they aren't technically Buttes. Secondly, since it's mentioning Buttes specifically, and the OP's location is listed as Yuba City, I'm guessing the trucking company is located near there... the Sutter Buttes. If it where me, I'd use the...
  19. Sq Ft Charges

From what I understand, he is just one team member of a small production group that works for a huge company. I'm pretty sure he's researching here so his team can pull ahead. Sounds very corporate structured. He's not making $25 million, rather his corporate conglomerate overlord is reaping the...
