  1. Discussion I've owned an HP R1000 since April 2019, ask me anything

so optimizer on everything, but you still use adhesion promoter on certain substrates that are having issues? hot damn, that maintenance kit tho'. 3x the cost of my 26500, I'd imagine printheads are a bit more as well? still not talkin' me outta this machine anytime soon, fell in love with it...
  2. HP 370 Bad Trailing Cable - Help

$250 for a ribbon cable?!? Oboy. any sort of kink/fray in those things will cause issues. I can't imagine OEM being much different than a 3rd party, if not exactly identical. as long as the pins/spacing/guage of the lines are identical, then maybe your pins aren't making proper contact somehow?
  3. Discussion I've owned an HP R1000 since April 2019, ask me anything

so you print onto the belt? is that an issue that requires you to clean or replace regularly, or can you "cheat" by butting-in some cheap/thin poly/acrylic strips to run alongside & reuse.
  4. Discussion I've owned an HP R1000 since April 2019, ask me anything

niiiiiiice, I want one. so do you basically have to use the adhesive promoter on everything? Never saw them do it at the tradeshow, but is the removal/reinstall of white printhead fairly simple? Do you have to recalibrate everytime? any gremlins under the hood yet in terms of printability of...
  5. Need Help Problem with 3M Matte Black Controltac

+1 hydroscopic polycarb. its a curse really.
  6. Channel letter learing

warping comes from rapid heating/cooling of routing, and the linear pressure of your bit pressing against the metal. as others have stated, a misting system is ideal for cutting aluminum BUT you also, at the very least, could add an air sprayer if you don't want to afford a coolant/oil system...
  7. How would you Remove?

i think it would look cheap as one giant-panel, idk. dealer's choice here i guess. larger panel = easier layout for graphics. smaller panels = subtle touch-up, but more work.
  8. How would you Remove?

i wouldn't bother with the "proper way" to do this, eraser wheel will grind up the painted finish, as would any scraper tools, and any of the "cover-up" paint remaining would make it look like as scuffed-up mess anyways. +1 to using ACM panels getting more bang-for-buck than elbow grease &...
  9. Pricing for Concrete Wall Mural

you'll definitely want the roller, not just the TSA4 for the "flat" portions, but the VCAT roller as well for the mortar lines. expensive, yes, but crucial for proper mortar line contouring. If you don't get a good heat&roll into the mortar lines, they will start lifting the day after your...
  10. Need Help Bubbling Before Printing

MPI3320 seems to be listed as acceptable for all types of printers... gotta just be the old/cold calendared vinyl going thru hot printer.
  11. Need Help Free sites for vector graphics

vecteezy has some good free stuff. still, if you're a business making money off design then you should not be pulling crap off the internet to pass-off as your own. only a matter of time before you get hit, and free crap is crap nonetheless. buy artwork packages from provehicleoutlines, or...
  12. Need Help Bubbling Before Printing

recommend? for what application and what printer? plenty of merchant members here with recommendations if you post the info.
  13. How should this be handled?

the "nice" thing would have been for the company to give you kudos in the post.... but ultimately, they're boosting ability to complete a project. I'd be careful about snubbing them, as they could spend their dollars elsewhere in the future, but they are being truthful in their post about...
  14. Need Help Bubbling Before Printing

easiest way to start, would be to diagnose whether its simply the media. you might get a few more credible troubleshoots if we knew the material and the printer at the start of the thread. unknown avery vinyl could be the culprit, as that brand still carries a LOT of question marks for me...
  15. Looking for alternative to cast metal plaques

we don't cast our plaques, we machine-down plate metal with our CNC. then either sandblast to smooth out the toolpaths, or add a texture coat. huge +1 to Gemini. they do great work.
  16. Gold Metallic Printing Help

you could also use gold metallic vinyl as your base, and print onto it. or print onto clear and laminate the clear print onto the gold?
  17. Need Help Bubbling Before Printing

another thought could be that the vinyl has been sitting cold for a long time. Tis the season, warehouses/trucks/storagecontainers are freezing in the North this time of year.... and the quick-heating of the pre-print/cure may be causing this (most likely calendared) vinyl to rapidly expand.
  18. Printing to Metallic 3M™ Series 50 Scotchcal?

never hurts to try.... if you have a sample of the material, you could always laminate a swatch onto some junk roll and print onto it to see the results without having to load a roll or waste a large chunk of exotic vinyl just to test. some materials just don't want to accept certain inks, or...
  19. WalMart Install 10x8 mural for $240 fair?

wayyyy too cheap. maybe for a friend paying cash, but $200 pretty much covers showing up and cleaning up.
