  1. Need Help acrylic cracking after applying vinyl.

any solvents on cnc cut & flame polished acrylic will crack plexi there's a thread somewhere here discussing it, youtube vids explaining it as well, but apparently the flame polishing creates tiny pores of stressed acrylic and the solvent glides up into, expands, and cracks.

  3. Need Help Out-gas vinyl on polystyrene

cast or calendared is fine. Appears to be just that pesky controltac/airegress adhesive vinyl. I've also taken the extra time to use a heat gun to post-application heat&softsqueegee to completely "wet" the adhesive to the surface and make sure there's no pockets of "lightly applied" vinyl to...
  4. Need Help Out-gas vinyl on polystyrene

hygroscopic substrate is most likely the issue. ...absorbing/sweating moisture, that gets trapped under vinyl that doesn't allow it to pass-thru & darker colors then heats-up in direct sunlight creating the bubbles from water vapor & vinyl expansion. i never have much issue with cast...
  5. Question A serious question..........................

You don't get paid to scratch your head for an hour and then give-up. I would contest the fee, if its worth hours of your time, or simply pay it to save yourself the headache and move-on to makin' money. ....if its a matter of creating a .pdf from quickbooks, is it possible to print what you're...
  6. Need Help Stupid and Expensive mistake

another thought, since you're already in florida, would be to drive out to Orlando for the ISA Expo and pick someone's brain that is repping one of these machines. chances are, they have access to the service/operator's manual for the exact if not similiar make/model.
  7. What would you REALLY do if you had symptoms of Coronavirus?

here, in the North, we would treat it... like the FLU! rest up, heal up, and keep your germs behind your pile of snow. I would also remind myself that death rates amongst SARS & MERS were 34% and 9%, respectively, .....COV19, is at 2%.

  9. Lines on backside of window perf

your profile might be laying too much ink and its pooling/building-up in the perforations. If you can't get it to work by directly printing on the perf, then you could always try printing your image onto a cast optically clear, and laminating that onto your perforated vinyl. The red will still...
  10. Applying Vinyl to Wallpaper

+1 textured wall issue. I assume by 3M prints you mean ij35/ij40? ij180 MIGHT be able to heat & mash to conform to the texture, if that's what is installed then try to hit it with high heat and a foam roller.... if its ij35/40, or any calendared vinyl, then I wouldn't bother trying to "make...

paint mask stencil and screen print ink from local fabric/hobby store.
  13. Difficulty Adhering after Rapid Remover

rapid remover is awesome, but its GREASY! a simple spray&wipe isn't enough to prep the surface, I always take it as a two-step process, with fresh rags, one "rough clean" to get all the debris and rapid remover off the surface, and then a fresh rag & isopropyl to polish the surface clean of...
  14. 3M 8508 Laminate Shrinking... Tired of the Manufacturer Blaming us

+1 calendared vinyl shrinks, just the nature of the beast. Besides, if you use economy materials then expect to produce economy products. however, I've had ZERO issue with edge curl when using 8508/8509 on ij35. I've got dozens of "economy" MDO/coroplast signs out there with this product that...
  15. Need Help Ink smudging

lack of lamination is the root cause. Applying unlaminated prints without scuffing/smudging the ink is difficult, but I would start by using a transfer mask or at least the backingpaper/liner of the vinyl as a buffer between your squeegee and the print ....or start requesting laminated prints :)

  19. Discussion I've owned an HP R1000 since April 2019, ask me anything

So with fairly decent amount of printing, you're using about 2 maintenance kits per month.... How many printheads have you replaced in the last year? different beasts, i'm sure, but woof....that's one heck of a pricetag on service parts.
  20. Discussion I've owned an HP R1000 since April 2019, ask me anything
