Most large-format RIP software (including Versaworks) contain lookup tables for Pantone and other spot color systems. Do not convert Pantone spot colors to CMYK color builds. Instead, allow the RIP to perform a late-binding conversion that takes into account the media's white point, ink density...
Run the Test Print (under the Settings, Image Quality Maintenance Menu) and visually review the pattern. Horizontal banding is almost always directly tied to nozzle performance or media feed. It is also unusual that the force drop would show that every nozzle out of 12,672 nozzles across 6...
That is because it doesn't make any difference...unless the user buys white cling, prints in reverse, and attempts to mount the media to the second surface with the ink side adhering to the glass.
This is what I believe that MrDave is doing - and is encountering a problem with ink interfering...
Optimal solution: this is a second-surface application. Print on clear static cling in a mirror (flipped) orientation using a 2-layer overflood print mode, with white ink behind the color. Ink never contacts the glass.
I would advise looking into HP Latex Gen4. All of the long-standing issues with white ink have been addressed in these printers. The improvements include all of the challenges associated with running white ink: the copious amounts of ink that is wasted in solvent and UV white ink printers, as...
Which side of the cling film is being inked? For best adhesion to glass and non-ferrous metals, ink should be printed on the opposite side of contact to the substrate.
There is a Curing Module Cleaning Maintenance training course available for periodic cleaning of the cure unit on Latex 700/ 800 Series printers. This free course is available through the PrintOS Learn App that can be accessed through a browser or mobile.
If the automatic printhead alignment is failing, it is possible that the line sensor is dirty. Document attached that details sensor cleaning.
Also clean the linear encoder strip with a damp cloth (di water).
In a pinch, you also could run a manual routine to align printheads.
Are you referring to the ink being tacky, or the aggressiveness of the adhesive?
If the ink is not completely cured and is tacky coming out of the printer, the solution is to increase the amount of thermal energy delivered to the ink, or to increase the amount of time that the ink is exposed to...
That is a fairly standard calendared vinyl film on a 90-pound release liner, there should be no unique challenges with that media. If the media has front tension on it from the TUR or the Media Feed Tool, there should be virtually no chance of media crashes, unless something else is going on -...
Attach the Media Feed Tool as described in the video:
Also, the vacuum only acts on the media while it is moving through the print zone, not the cure unit.
Phil is absolutely correct. If this is printed Regulated Traffic Signage (to be used on a public roadway in North America), there are very strict and well-defined standards for color and retro-reflection that must be met. These standards are defined by ASTM. Avery sells the TrafficJet into this...
Yes, the Gen4 Latex printers use significantly lower heat signatures than all of the previous Latex printers. Most medias cure at temperatures lower than 195-degrees Fahrenheit on the 600/ 700/ 800 Series, (unless using a very low pass mode like 4-pass).
Latex can produce this white opacity on fluorescent film when using 160-percent ink density (this is not the highest white ink density possible). It is far more opaque than any eco-solvent white ink, and is comparable with or better then UV inks in that respect.
Did you use the on-board spectrophotometer and ICC creation engine, or external (to the printer) measurement/ software? The 600/ 700/ 800 Series maximize the ink set's chromatic gamut at around 120-percent when printing to white self-adhesive films.
I would suggest testing using non-laminated prints first.
The start position needs to be with the tool located in the white space between the barcode and the edge of the media, directly in front of the forward barcode (as loaded), and not directly over the barcode or the registration mark. If...
There have been two HP Latex 54 Basic Cutter models. The original uses the yellow background, and the newer Plus model does not. Make sure that you configured the proper cutter model in Production Manager (Latex 54 Basic Cutter or Latex 54 Basic Plus Cutter). The original model has dedicated...
Any solvent (and eco-solvent) printer will require a solvent-compatible media coating. Aqueous coated papers will not dry with solvent inks, as you have learned.
I can recommend Sihl Trisolv 3699 photobase paper or 3686 poster paper. Either will image well, but may take some time (6-24 hours)...
