Stringflags.com has a lot of options. Lots of different sizes, shapes and mounting options. They supply templates for custom designs if you want it. They also have single or double-sided option which I had a hard time finding elsewhere. The double sided flags have a blockout layer between them...
A good argument towards laminating perforated prints....in the case of rear windows with wipers anyways. This
company only recently started advertising around here so this is probably a fairly new print too
.
One of the computers in our shop has Flexi 10 installed and I just noticed that the preview pane in windows explorer doesn't preview the .fs files. We have another older computer with an older version of flexi installed and the files preview fine there. Does anyone know what the issue might be...
I need to print 1000 decals for a customer and I ran into a fairly expensive issue/mistake. I did an initial print/lam/cut test of 33 decals at once (approx 53" x 24") and it worked fine.
I then printed 4 sets of 210 of these decals and laminated them and then put them back in to cut them...
My two cents...
Th most common solutions to printing graphics for backlit signs have both been mentioned already.
Option 1 -hit it with 2-passes of ink (which unfortunately ends up looking way too dark during the day) This doesn't work for customers who are particular about the "trueness" of...
No no, the Maroon circle is their logo. Can't change that color. I just meant that we can put it on a black or white background but not in such a way that it looks like a border or part of the circle.
Definitely a great suggestion but unfortunately we are bound by the branding standards for this. The encircled text is actually their complete logo. Their branding standards document actually specifies that the logo can be placed on a white or black background but may not be closely encircled as...
So down to the wire and had to make a decision....not my decision. The company owner has instructed me to print it and seam it...yuck. I will do the best I can though and maybe I'll post the final result for reference later...if I remember.
Painting was not an option (according to the boss)...
:thumb:Great tip. We use an HVLP sprayer for most of our oversized opaque signs, small routed letters etc but our painters are not super concerned with attention to detail all the time so you may be on to something...
Thanks Gino! I think that is the best option so far. My only issue is that I can't find a local flatbed printer that can handle that size...I will keep looking though. And yes- completely agree about the polycarbonate especially with the sign being so low to the ground.
Here is the layout. I see what you're saying about painting the background and masking out the green elements and overlaying them later. My issue is that I don't know anything about painting a backlit sign face... so if you can give me some information on proper translucent paint and methods...
Unfortunately no. The design is a solid-colored background and has some light-colored text/logo elements in the center.
Really hoping someone has an alternate solution to seaming :banghead:
We are fabricating a circular backlit box. The face of the sign will be translucent white acrylic or lexan and the graphics need to be translucent as well. The problem is the size. It's 6' x 6' and I can only find translucent vinyl of 48" rolls and our printer is only 54".

It's a little messy but here's a panoramic of our showroom. We have some signs on display but they are mostly just old signs that were purchased and then the customer backed out...
Since everything we make is custom and every job is different we mostly just greet the customer and chat with them...
We do a small amount of flat plate engraving mostly on Rowmark material. The person who normally ran the engraver is gone so I've been fiddling with it a bit.
I've noticed that, on small text the letters seem to be "bolder" once they've been engraved vs how they look on screen. Most of the...
