lol Another workaround! Thank you for the suggestion it is a good option. Although the .png is very low-res so it live-traces to a wonky version of its former self.
Again, yes I appreciate the work-arounds. I'll probably resort to this if I can't get a starighforward solution....I\d really rather figure out why this is happening.
I've used transparent .tiff's a million times in a mixed vector/raster .eps file. that is why this is bothering me.
I know I can...
To clarify - I am loading an .eps file into VersaWorks.
that .eps file has within it: a transparent .png (now.tiff) object that is layered on top of a black background. along with some vector logos and text.
No spot colors like I said in my post.
I know I can just rasterize the whole thing or edit the .png to have the same color background as what it's being placed on.
The issue is that these are jobs we do for a customer that sells advertising space. So their customers rent the space and we make...
I'm trying to print an .eps file that was designed in Illustrator and I'm having an issue with a placed, transparent .png in the layout.
In the photo you can see that it's printing a box around the .png(a maple leaf with a white outline) that causes the layer beneath it to be faded.
I've...
I really do want the answer to that question though. Do you have permission to reproduce all those copyrighted logos?
If not, you have more balls than brains.
Not saying this is part of the issue but worth considering...
Is your photoshop file set to color mode rgb or cmyk?
It doesn't matter what the color values tell you in photoshop if VW is having to convert your file to cmyk for it's own use.
When you convert an RGB file to CMYK the cmyk values...
I agree with some that it feels like it could be human error on this one and not due to outgassing or cheap materials. The cheapest of translucent vinyl would not bubble like this just because it's cheap. There is obviously something else at play here. If it was a vapor issue then I'd think this...
Thanks, I'll look into that.
Did a quick search on our client server for files ending in .fs and we have 13540 so I don't think I'll be converting each one...I barely have time to make a post on signs101 much-less spend 4-8 hours converting Flexi Files :)
I was more thinking I would do it on a...
That would work actually because like I said in my post-I don't need it to print because we don't use Flexi anymore. It would be nice to be able to save or export but I could live without that and settle for a visual reference of what's in the file in most cases.
Where would I get the trial...
Grimco/Proveer's house brand TruStock is really decent stuff. That's what we use for most jobs where calendered vinyl is appropriate. They have an intermediate version that's only $188.95 for a 54"x150' roll and it's a 4year, 3mil vinyl. We use that for the majority of our jobs. Aluminum parking...
Is there anywhere I can download a trial version of Flexi Sign?
I can't find any online. It can be any version that windows 7 supports.
We have a lot of old customer files that were designed and saved in an older version of FlexiSign. We don't use FlexiSign in our print production process...
I had that issue with a brand of perf I was trying out too! The problem was with the product. The backing liner coating was too slippery. Meaning the perf had a very low stick to the liner and the pressure and motion of the pinch rollers cause this lifting. I can't remember what product I used...
That's the problem with a customer install...you now have no way to know if it was a material/fabrication fail or if it's an installer fail. The problem is that even the most honest of customers will lie to your face in order to avoid taking responsibility (or to save their ego in some cases)...
off topic but...Personally we've had more issues with 3M not standing behind their warranties and we use Avery exclusively for wraps but then I wasn't around "back in the day" so maybe things have changed for the better. It's also nice that we can get an Avery bundle MPI 1005 EZ Rs / DOL 1060...
This would be a huge red flag to me. Right away I would think he already had someone do some free "spec" design and when they wouldn't revise it for free he took it to you to try the same scam. I am naturally pretty wary as soon as someone asks for free design though.
Kudos for trying to upgrade your knowledge and skill in this industry. There's nothing wrong with seeking out advice in order to do your job better. I am a graphic designer, also female and was kind of thrown into this industry as well. Little to no training in sign fabrication, installation...
