I've been making labels for a local Fuel Tank manufacturer for many years...I've never had trouble with the decals I've used. Most of their tanks labels are 3M calendered film. The ones that are printed get a layer of lam. They've been happy with them. :) I'm sure if it's cleaned well enough...

3M primer 94 in all places where there are cuts, tucks or relief cuts...I also put it in areas that you will be tucking and rolling the film into. Then, use strips (1/2 inch) of the lam to edge seal. :) It takes a lot of extra time and effort...but it works!
