  1. Magnets?

    Yea...magnets or maybe velcro
  2. Arlon 6000XRP vs 3m 180c

I liked Arlon, printed nice and was easy enough to work with, but I had some of the same problems Larry B. had.....peeling after a few months, leaving the adhesive on the vehicle. Never figured out why it happened on some and not others. Switched to 3m and so far no problems except the price.
  3. blade holders that etch?

Has anyone tried one of these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Holder-Cutting-Plotter-Flat-Vinyl-Cutter-Blade-Holder-Paper-Carton-Glass-/120897828365?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c2612760d Doesn't really say what it is or does, but it looks like maybe the purple one is a pen, and the blue one may...
  4. Magnet material...

What's the favorite magnet material. I have been using the .030 Magnum. Just checked with my supplier and was told there are a couple thicker versions up to .060 , but you have to buy four rolls at a time. Don't need four...the last roll I got was in 2010. Sure seems like the stuff used to be...
  5. Help with files

Have you tried saving the file after opening it in flexi? Or maybe import the file into corel, and resave it from there.
  6. Plastic water tank

The last plastic barrels I tried to stick decals on didn't work too well. They were the white plastic 55 gallon barrels. What worked for me was to make a stencil of just the outline, slightly larger than the graphic, and spraying a background coat of Krylon fusion. The decals have been on now...
  7. I need to install these 3-color decals today. Quick question on 'where' to layer.

also make sure your squeegee has a smooth edge and doesn't have a bunch of nicks...those nicks are bubbles about to happen. Vinyl sticks to vinyl quicker than vinyl to glass with the wet method. I like to put the layer on the glass dry, and sometimes use wet on the other layers. Gives you a...
  8. Billboard banner brackets..

That looks like the ones John...thanks!!
  9. Billboard banner brackets..

I'm quoting a "replacement" billboard banner, and in the past, I've only installed with pole pockets, poles and ratchet straps. This one is on the side of a building, and they built a 2x4 frame for the parimeter. The banner has pole pockets and poles, and they used some metal clips mounted to...
  10. Thoughts on HP Designjet 5000ps UV

I bet the eaglejet is the ps model
  11. Here's a hot market

looks like you used some stripper and sandpaper?
  12. Burning letters

wonder if you could reverse cut the mask....then mist with lighter fluid or something flammable, pull the mask and light it on fire? Hair spray seems pretty flammable.
  13. 3m 3680 translucent...

A customer wants silver lettering in the back side windows of a Yukon. I don't have any cast silver, and don't want to order a short roll for 3 feet of material. I do have some 3m3680 translucent vinyl left over from another job. The windows are flat, so I'm wondering why this film won't work...
  14. roland sp-300v re: windows 7

Yes it works with 7...but, the 2.0 cd wouldn't allow it to update and install the print driver. You should still be able to export the file, and import that file into Versaworks. I had to order the Versaworks 4.0 cd to get it to load properly, to be able to print from Corel.
  15. Calculating media used, HP L25500

Not sure about your model, but the 5500 has the ability to keep track of usage by media. It's been a while, so my memory is a little fuzzy. When installing a new full roll..you tell the printer the media type, roll length and width. For it to keep track, you had to select that same roll of media...
  16. Stencil Material question

I used sandblast mask for one a while back and it worked good. Cut two copies, one in reverse, and stick the sticky sides together.
  17. Stencil Cutouts???

Had posted on this subject on another thread a couple months ago, but can't seem to find it. The last stencils I made using sandblast mask. Cut two copies, one in reverse, and stick them back to back. Makes a pretty good flexible stencil.
  18. Why is this Happening!!?? Roller marks!!? CHECK!!

My vinyl cutter has a tag on top that says: "Only use the center roller for sandblast and paint mask"
  19. Making Stencils using Plotter?

The last stencil I made using sandblast mask. Cut two copies, one in reverss and stick them sticky to sticky. Flexible and lays flat. I wouldn't want to try it with tiny letters though.
  20. applying high intensity sheeting to metal sign blanks

+1 for pre-sheeted I wouldn't ruin a laminator running sharp objects through, it would turn your laminator into crap really quick. Maybe if you took to time to file the edges smooth, but any cuts in your rollers will show when you laminate other prints, repeating every time the roller comes...
