  1. Roland SC 545 - Colorgate PS7 - Won't cut from spot colors??

You need to create a SPOT color, with the specific name "CutContour" and "PerfCutContour" Please look at these for reference: Adding Perf Cut - Same applies to contour cut - use ContourCut color and name instead Cutting Stickers with Versaworks - Pay attention to "Create Cutting Lines"...
  2. Roland VG-640 TrueVis - Eats Ink like no other

Short answer, yes. The machine will still do a normal clean if it has run a lot. It appears to be based on how much material has been run through the printer. Outside of cleaning, it will always do a circulation routine.
  3. dreaded banding

I'd double check alignment settings and manually inspect/clean the heads. Rogue causes for this may lie in your RIP software too- so I'd double check the profile is correct, but this banding looks "mechanical" in nature.
  4. Roland VG-640 TrueVis - Eats Ink like no other

I don't run white ink just for that reason and I don't do enough white ink printing to justify the maintenance. I turned off automatic cleaning because my XR-640 tends to just do a light cleaning cycle during print jobs.. it is already at a good frequency; THAT and the circulation routine is...
  5. dreaded banding

for some perspective I am missing 2 nozzles on my A head for cyan with my Roland printer. I have done all I could to recover them, but they are lost. I will forever have banding on heavy "blue" printing that rely on cyan, but everything else is acceptable to perfect. If I lose 2 more nozzles or...
  6. Roland VG-640 TrueVis - Eats Ink like no other

I don't have any of these issues on my XR-640 running the latest firmware.
  7. Transparency Issue

When you save as, you need to select "Use Artboard" in the dialog box or else it will export everything. Artboard includes the bleed as well
  8. Suggestions Contour cut problem in vesa works

Fioan, VW will not recognize spot colors if you have transparency effects like drop shadows. Because spot colors are not recognized, the contour cuts aren't recognized they themselves use specific spot colors. So you will need to flatten the artwork in to a raster at the desired printing...
  9. Transparency Issue

Hard to advise when we can't see how the file was built.
  10. Suggestions Contour cut problem in vesa works

If you are building the file and are using shape builder and pathfinder tools, I guarantee that you have more than one cutting path going on. It happens to me from time to time.
  11. Transparency Issue

VanderJ said it... a preview is at a cost essentially. However, your white box issue comes from the limitations of VW. You will need to flatten your print ready artwork as raster artwork AND then add your text. VW has issues with transparency effects and layers.
  12. smeared looking print on reflective

So is this a regular print job for you? Because this looks like a profile issue. The ink limits are showing here for sure.
  13. Abstract light painting. Vector / Hi res? (drawing a blank on search terms)

Don't short change yourself.. the product of your labor will get the job done and ensure a quality end product. The awful reality is that most of these things were created as one offs and a fare amount of time were poorly made. Would you mind sharing how you built those shapes in Illustrator?
  14. What caused this failure?

I'd hazard a guess that based on the material used and not knowing the region, stress cracks due to over stretching on that side along with excessive sun exposure. If that vehicle is parked in the same way everyday and sees a lot of sun, I'd believe it. 3751
  15. Roland SG-300 waste

it's no bug. there is no way to set a "page space" default on the printer and why there is no "standard" printer configuration to be applied on any new project within VW is beyond me. I know that platen/vaccum edge is my best friend.
  16. Roland SG-300 waste

the SG-300 is very similar to my XR-640. If you start a new project aligning the leading edge to the edge of the vaccum/platen on the printer, your leading page space should be in the order of 40/50mm It has become 2nd nature to start a new project on that vaccum/platen edge and to either...
  17. Roland colors printing with banding

If I saw that same banding frequency on my Roland, I'd manually clean around the heads and check for dirt/dust/hairs. Without seeing what those prints look like in detail, you may be dealing with saturation issue and you will want to examine the profile your using.
  18. Roland SG-300 waste

Change your Page Space under Printer Controls in VW. Horizontal margins are determined by pinch roller position. You can find the absolute edge with a little experimentation before you get a detection error to get the most out of your outside margins.
  19. How to achieve this shadow in illustrator

It should be no surprise to you. As phototec tried explaining, enlarging fixed resolution artwork in your RIP will cause pixelation because the RIP is working with what it has. It is not re-rendering the image creating new pixels by some algorithm. Your final artwork files need to be at the...
  20. How to achieve this shadow in illustrator

coming from photoshop - it has been rasterized - flattened - thus you lose any scaling abilities Illustrator wants to use with any of it's math based artwork. You shouldn't be mixing the two - unless you are matching the resolutions 1:1 and aiming for ONE FLAT/RASTERIZED image.
