  1. Why would edge sealer cause vinyl to shrink when it dries? (pic included)

It seems to me that right above the blisters, the vinyl was trimmed a little high in the groove. Edge sealer or not, if that edge catches water very often, it's going to work its way down your air egress channels and collect.
  2. trailer rivet question

What do folks think of this tool? My biggest worry would be that by cutting the vinyl, you're adding the potential of the little cap covering the rivet pulling off...
  3. Need Help Registration marks process (What am I overlooking?)

We cut with the media guides in place frequently and used to have an employee who was convinced of the glare issue so he would lightly sand the gloss off the lam with a piece of emery cloth. I have stood in front of the printer and cast a shadow, blocked the light with my hand, not stood there...
  4. Question Vp540 board MainBoard Repair Network problems or just buy new board?

If you find it and mcbirdman doesn't take it or has already found one, we'll gladly take up on your offer and pay a fair price for it.
  5. Suggestions PVC Cleaning

Does a buffer actually pick up any dirt or contaminates or does it just swirl them around? On coro, I'd be worried about it rubbing the corona for direct printing off.
  6. trailer rivet question

So you don't heat the material and squeegee the material down snug to the edge of the rivet? A Rolle-Pro only gets them so close. If we leave them in, we use a variety of tools and 94 primer to seat them properly. Nothing drives me crazier than seeing a truck or trailer going down the road...
  7. trailer rivet question

The aluminum panels are usually glued or bonded in some way to the underlayment behind them. Otherwise if they are just held in with the screws only, they work themselves loose and rattle in the wind. Like most things we take it on a case by case basis and decide if the graphic will look worse...
  8. Labels and Stickers

How thick is a 3.2 mil calendered vinyl and it's corresponding 3 mil laminate? I suggested the 6mil semi-rigid for both its great affordability, ease of production and simple application by your customer.
  9. Question mutoh valuejet 1204 WHEN PRINTING BLACK IT PRINTS DARK GREEN WHY

A great place to start any diagnostic exercise.
  10. Need a printer that will be safe and oderless

I've seen references to solvent ink disposal here that suggest cat litter and then once the solvent has evaporated, the remaining ink residue is considered benign. Benign to who, I don't know. Just saying that is what has been described in other threads here about it. Most local waste and...
  11. Need a printer that will be safe and oderless

Not to mention that if the house burned down from anything related to a commercial use going on inside, the homeowners policy would likely not honor a claim. The same happens when people put these commercial grade ovens and ranges in. Its cool to have, but the higher BTU's involved and added...
  12. Sandblasted Extira?

Unless they've greatly improved the water resistance, I've not had good results on its weatherability.
  13. Labels and Stickers

Most cake, baked goods, etc. boxes are pressed board and have a smooth NFS approved coating on them. If it was me, I'd just use a 6mil, semi-rigid decal material and skip the laminate. If being used on perishable food items and chucked afterwards, I see no point treating these decals like they...
  14. Question mutoh valuejet 1204 WHEN PRINTING BLACK IT PRINTS DARK GREEN WHY

    How is your black color built? Is it C:0/M: 0/ Y: 0/ K: 100?
  15. Colors not matching

Is that as solidly as your printer will print? Maybe it's the photos, but things seem kind of weak and mottled. Generally speaking, the gamut on color is wider when printing in RGB, but your equipment, desired output and vibrancy are what should drive which color model to use. We typically...
  16. What would you do?

Only time will tell if they hold themselves to just in house stuff and how much work it takes to convince vehicle purchasers that they have the skills and talent on board to do as professional of a job as people expect or you would do. When Staples and UPS stores first starting offering copy...
  17. Need Help Registration marks process (What am I overlooking?)

Probably not. Until you get it figured out, bring your wheels in a little, run a few short jobs, don't mess with hand applying laminate and work through the process. Keep it simple until you've had a couple successful goes of it. Just remember to decrease your cutting pressure for the...
  18. Need Help Registration marks process (What am I overlooking?)

I didn't even notice those. Yeah, you have to clean open area around your alignment dots. Do you have other prints that don't have the calibration test print on them? If so, use those as your test. Or rerun that print on some clean material.
  19. Need Help Registration marks process (What am I overlooking?)

Hmmm..... it should at least go all across and try to find the second one. Our VP540 has a 5 degree error buffer. Anything under 5 degrees off, will give us an error, but it at least goes all the way across to try and adjust and find the second mark. I'm stumped. Sorry.
  20. Need Help Registration marks process (What am I overlooking?)

Ok, so you want to load the media back into the printer making sure you've loaded it nice and square to the front edge so that once you move your registration marks into alignment over the center of the grey colored cutting strip the sensor will pick them up. Sometimes it takes a few tries to...
