  1. Cricut crazies want scraps !

Even living in a solidly middle class community, our schools face tight budgets. We donate our scraps to a couple local art teachers, preschools, the library for its after school program, ETC.
  2. Purchasing a business.

I guess you were so busy patting yourself on the back about getting your compadre out of jail that you forget to read the memo about flaming other members and not personalizing things. You can't critique others for something that you continue to do yourself.
  3. Purchasing a business.

It's plenty serious for the people in Florida in the same business who are doing what they can to survive no small measure of industry consolidation, technological advances, wholesalers selling to the public, disruptors taking wholesale prices and marking them up a few pennies and polluting a...
  4. Purchasing a business.

We're not uptight. Most of us are pragmatic, seasoned veterans of a craft that is a lot harder to succeed at for less ROI than many other investment opportunities. If you want just back patting and encouragement, you should have just asked for that, not business advice. Who's to say the sellers...
  5. Purchasing a business.

So as long as one of us tells you want to hear, they are a genius. Others equally as wise as your cheerleader are warning you about potential problems, pitfalls and oversights, but you just plow ahead. FWIW, out of 50 B&B's in our market area, after one year we were ranked in the top 5 on...
  6. Purchasing a business.

Oh please......... Give us all a break. My "attude" is born of being in a craft for 40 years and seeing more than its fair share of get rich quick schemers come and go. You two gave up six figure incomes and you are financially blessed so you could come disrupt a craft whose best practitioners...
  7. Purchasing a business.

"Speaks to your soul"? Acquire mom and pop sign and embroidery shops and turn them into a billion dollar business? I'm sorry, but your entire vibe comes off very plastic almost to the point of my thinking this is some kind of trolling exercise. There isn't room in our industry for more get...
  8. Vinyl coming off wall

Wow! How much is a membership every month to pay for all that?
  9. Saving onyx files

Same folder, you just won't see it at your workstation unless you choose to see All File Formats or however it words it.
  10. Family owned, partnership father and son

I agree to a point on the side business part but not the rest. Somebody who is working that many hours for the core business at that kind of gross income for SIX years HAS ALREADY added plenty of value to what is a family business. What kind of wages and benefits would the parents need to be...
  11. What could cause this?

Not to beat a dead horse but that looks exactly like pressure washer damage. We tell every client with vehicle graphics that they must exercise some restraint and care when washing their vehicles. A pressure washer turned up too high to speed up cleaning even 24" from the surface can blast...
  12. Anybody ever remove these before?

Thanks, it's a print_cut we're doing and they are spread out pretty far out across the sides, so we should be able to contend with them pretty easily.
  13. Creating glass etch look

It's going to take some experimentation to see what works without getting too opaque. I would just start with a series of printed boxes a couple inches square in increasing levels of CMYK values until you get it the way you want it. Cut them out and throw them up on your office window and see...
  14. Anybody ever remove these before?

Has anyone encountered these plastic button type rivets on a big box truck before? If so, did you just work around them, figure out a way to remove them, wrap over them? They are 3/4" wide but protrude about a 1/4" with that 90 degree return.
  15. Gerber ION Solara owners: Anybody have any ink they want to sell?

I don't know how many of us are members and either still using our printers or have dumped them but still sitting on some ink pouches. I'd be interested in buying any ink from anybody still has some that doesn't need it.
  16. Vinyl coming off wall

That wall is so textured, I'd be tempted to use Rough Surface Wrap like a ORAFOL ORAJET 3951HT 2 MIL 7YR or ARLON DPF 8000 3.5 MIL 5YR All these modern wall paints have additives meant to improve cleanability which repel most vinyls. Even with the higher adhesive vinyls, you still have to make...
  17. Need Help Any idea what this is or how to remove it?

How big is the panel? How crucial to the client's image is this particular sign? Have you made any promises about being able to salvage the panel? Were they warned that the panel might need to be replaced? Asking for a friend who is a detail freak.
  18. Do any of your offer a profit-sharing model for your staff?

As with anything else, it's impossible to take a blanket approach to such an individualized scenario and business decision. Our little three person shop with two of the three being owners is quite different than a 25 person shop with millions in revenue and volume based approach. My 40 year...
  19. Why would edge sealer cause vinyl to shrink when it dries? (pic included)

Oh wow! I assumed had been in the water for a while. Does it feel like its air or liquid underneath those bubbles? I don't know what to think if its not been back in the water. How far over the edge did you seal it? I always thought that Edge Sealer is just an acrylic sealant like Frog Juice.
  20. Why would edge sealer cause vinyl to shrink when it dries? (pic included)

Boat graphics on the hull and gunwale? are especially sensitive to water creeping in under them from both soaking and being sprayed up when the boat is moving.
