  1. Need Help Roland XC-540 Wrong Ink Cartridge

If it's worked with these inks before, you probably have a bad chip on the cartridge. I'd ask Grimco for a replacement cartridge. If this is your first time with these inks, then they may not have the chips figured out yet. As a test to make sure it's not the chip readers on the printer, I'd...
  2. 32" Print Cut Recommendations

How many labels can you buy for $3500? If that's your budget, keep outsourcing. Buying the printer is just the start of your expenses. How much had been budgeted for ongoing maintenance? What media? How much will that add? Ink? Space for the printer and related work area? As for the...
  3. Discussion STS inks. Anyone have experience with them?

What do they bring to the table that's making you consider jumping off an ink set that you have confidence in? How much is that confidence/peace of mind worth? I don't have experience with either of them, I'm just curious what the motivation is. Good Luck
  4. Grays print Green

Make sure you're using a profile for the media you're printing on, then do a calibration for that profile.
  5. Roland VC - print heads became uncapped over the weekend?

Versa-Cam can be a SP-540v, SP-540i, VP-540, VP-540i, VS-540, but if it's about 4 years old, I would guess that it's a VS-540i. If so, when were the wiper(#25), felt(324) and wiper scraper(#26) last replaced? The wiper scraper tends to get neglected when doing the weekly cleaning. Also, I've...
  6. Roland VC - print heads became uncapped over the weekend?

Which model is it? VersaCamm is a series and there are quite a few models in that series. With different wiper systems. You don't want to turn off your your auto cleanings. This isn't a common situation in my experience. I would make sure that your wiper system is clean and consumable parts...
  7. Need Help Roland versacamm 540v

When was the last time you used it? And what is your definition of "routine maintenance"? Are all colors gone? Can you post a nozzle test print?
  8. Need Help Roland issue?

I had to help a shop with a similar situation. After a bunch of phone consulting I finally went onsite and found that they had an overhead air vent blowing directly on the back side of their printer. It was constantly blowing contamination on the supply side of the printer which, of course...
  9. Bearing Block XC540

The spring should put the right amount of pressure on the gears. Snug up the screws, but not tight. Just run it back and forth by hand before tightening the screws to make sure that the gears mesh properly before you tighten the screws. Then put a small amount of grease on the gears and wipe...
  10. Wholesale supplier for custom neon signs?

I'm not sure if they ship across the country, but they do a lot of work for sign shops around here... http://neondist.com/index.htm Joe
  11. Blade scraping on media clamps?

Hey Bryce, If this is under warranty, make sure you get with your dealer for service on it. It could be one of several things - cutter solenoid, cut carriage cable, servo board or just a loose connection somewhere. If it's not under warranty, then you just start by checking things like, how...
  12. Suggestions Large Glass Panels

You've said this several times and I think you may be projecting your beliefs/feelings on your customer. Tell him the cost for Option A - frosted vinyl like he suggested then be prepared with options B and C if his eyes roll back in his head when you give him the price.
  13. Need Help Gerber FX part

You'll be ok. While you're in there, I'd clean up the excess grease around the Z-axis screw. It does no good out there and can attract dirt as well as drip down on sensitive electronics. It's not uncommon to see too much grease or oil in places like that. There should only be a small amount...
  14. Best Light Temperature for Accurate Color

The "standard" for print profiling and proofing is D50. But it would ultimately depend on where your work will be displayed. If most of your work will be displayed outside - car wraps, outdoor signage, etc. - then I woiuld go with D65 myself. If you really want accuracy in color matching...
  15. Need Help Gerber FX part

As long as you don't mess with the home position flags, it should be fine once you power it back up. Good Luck

  17. Need Help Gerber FX part

    Good Luck
  18. VersaCamm VS-540 puking ink from cartridge holder

I think there was a firmware version that did ask to agitate the cartridges no matter which ink setup there was. I your printer asks you to remove and shake the cartridges, try updating the firmware. You've already got the ink station upgrade on there, which was supposed to help with the...
  19. Need Help noise from roland truevis SG540

check the condition of the plastic gear that meshes with the scan motor. If that's chewed up it can cause noise and eventually failures. Pulling the print carriage will put more load on the whole system. BTW, I've never seen those belts stretch. They've got steel cables embedded in them...
  20. Need Help Gerber FX part

There are tiny set screws in the ends of the pins, behind the screws you can see. I think they're 1.5mm Allen screws. Loosen those set screws and the pins come out easily. It stumped me for a while till I spoke with a tech at Gerber about it.
