  1. Declining jobs based on moral/ethical grounds

I walk away from jobs with bad design. Sooner or later, someone will look at that job, know that it looks like crap and ask who did it. People don't separate the design from the workmanship and will assume that we did the design as well as the production. I work on the principle that with...
  2. Epson s40600 issue

I put it down to static electricity. It only happens with certain medias and only when the relative humidity is low. The experts may disagree with me and that's OK, but I surmised that because the head was high, static electricity couldn't spark between the media and the carriage and instead...
  3. Epson s40600 issue

The other problem may be the head height. On certain medias, having the head too high will cause drop-outs.
  4. Roland Take System Tricks??

The first trick is to get the printer up off the floor. I cut up a plastic pallet so that the pieces fit neatly between the wheels on each leg. That lifts the printer up 100mm from the floor so I don't have to roll around on the floor anymore to attach the new core and set it up. Honestly...
  5. Best way to cut Maxmetal, E-panel, DiBond ACM?

About $750 US. They seem to be available at Amazon Canada. https://www.amazon.ca/Makita-CA5000X-Aluminum-Groove-Cutter/dp/B01JJ1W7FQ
  6. Best way to cut Maxmetal, E-panel, DiBond ACM?

This is what we use and it's the ducks guts.
  7. Question Need help sourcing a weird material

Something lick and stick might also work....
  8. Question Need help sourcing a weird material

Or you could paint them on by hand. Just sayin :)
  9. Need Help Epson S80600 Printing 97% to size/No evidence in Rip queue

I suspect that for some reason the media feed rate has altered on the printer. It can be something as simple as something dragging on the feed roll or takeup roll. If the width of the print is correct then some investigation of the feed rate of both the machine and the rip is a good place to start.
  10. Branding companies....just dont!

I did a big job for Coke. Full branding fitout including illuminated shopfront, illuminated menus, the works. The deal the shopkeeper had with Coke meant that he had to buy a whole truck load of Coke in one hit. Day one the signage went in. Day two they spent unloading a whole Coke truck, case...
  11. Branding companies....just dont!

Consistently the worst payer I've ever had is Coca-Cola. They know what our terms are, they agree to them and then drag out payments for months after that. Now then send me requests for quote and I just email back NO. I don't need their work and it just drives them nuts.
  12. Software Help Onyx vs Printfactory

It's handled in Oz through a distributor, it's about AUD120 per month for one printer and two cutters
  13. Software Help Onyx vs Printfactory

Have used both, now standardised on Print Factory. Great print page layout capabilities and frequent improvements at no charge with the "software as a service" model. Easy and accurate for creating profiles.
  14. What Rip are most people using on their Epson S80600?

I second Print Factory, it just keeps getting better and you don't have to pay for the upgrades. Luvvit.
  15. Looking at the Epson SureColor S60600

We are fully colour managed and cut our own profiles in house. We know from our measurements that the four colour CMYK of our S60600 makes our six colour Roland XR-640 look sad. Not even on the same planet. The Epson is the perfect beast.
  16. Looking at the Epson SureColor S60600

Epson S60600 is a beast. Print speed is astounding, beautiful print quality, great media handling and colour gamut to die for. Is this the perfect printer?
  17. Horrifying and stuck on this logo

This may sound a little "No soup for you," but we have a reputation for getting our designs right in terms of both performance and aesthetics. About ten years ago, a first time customer came to us with artwork that was as ugly as a dead frog in a bowl of punch and insisted that the finished car...
  18. Need Help Mimaki S80600 leaking ink

Probably the best Mimaki ever made.
  19. Tiny White Dots in My Solid Colors

I've seen this before when someone was running a diesel engine outside the printroom window. Screwed the window closed and it never happened again.
  20. How much do you guys charge to replace sign bulbs that require a bucket truck?

We are the only local signage company that owns an EWP. Our rates reflect the usual cost of hiring one because that's what our competitors will have to do. Half day minimum, just like the hire companies. Our WHS laws mean that there always need to be at least two staff where an EWP is in use...
