  1. small carbon fiber wrap/apply jobs

Yea, all one piece of 1080, no seams (the XM antenna did have a small seam). It's pretty conformable and the air egress works ok. A heat gun and a felt squeegee. HAHA, yea I don't think it looks THAT bad, but I wouldn't have done it like that if it were mine. The car still had the sticker in...
  2. 3m is offering wraps to endusers

We went from Oracal 3951 / 290 to 3M IJ180 V3 / 8519 and will be returning to Oracal on our next order. The 3M is easier to position and re-position, but outside of that I prefer the Oracal. Oracal air egress is way better. Also, they're not trying to steal my customers.
  3. small carbon fiber wrap/apply jobs

2011 Camaro convertible parts I did last week with "anthracite" 1080.. I really like the stuff.
  4. Car Illustration

Ditto, this was the first thing I thought when I saw it. Great work.
  5. 3m is offering wraps to endusers

I'm betting I'd be on the losing end of that deal. I'm not willing to whore my shop out to 3M and let them take the bulk of the pie. We had been using Oracal for the last several years. Recently, we went back to 3M and earlier today (before I read this post) we were discussing moving back to...
  6. Up Date on OP . We WOULD miss you.

I'll miss the spirited debates in NHB, they will definitely not be the same. The world and this site were definitely better off thanks to Joe. RIP, brother.
  7. Anybody near Exton, PA?

Anybody near Exton, PA? I'm looking at a GMC Yukon at Exton Nissan but it's almost 5 hours for me and I don't want any surprises. If you're near there, know anything about cars and don't mind stopping to take a look, let me know. Thanks!
  8. 3m 1080 vs oracal 970 (975) vs hexis hx30000

I wish! I had to do the back face separately, so there's a seam up and around the back side of it. The carbon pattern hides the seam very well.
  9. 3m 1080 vs oracal 970 (975) vs hexis hx30000

Sorry for the delay. Pics of the Porsche GT3 car that we wrapped (the silver is Oracal, carbon is 3M), and a 2011 Camaro convertible I did this morning.
  10. Items you’ve Wrapped.

XM antenna on a 2011 Camaro convertible trunk. Used 3m "anthracite" carbon fiber.
  11. box truck

It didn't have rivets, but this combination works fine with rivets as well. I've always used calendared vinyl on trailers and box trucks and have never had one brought back.
  12. box truck

I couldn't disagree more. Actually, the calendared vinyl is slightly more rigid than the cast, which I think makes the panels easier to line up. That wrap has been on there for about a year and they just called this morning to order a few prints to replace panels that they damaged. We have been...
  13. box truck

We use calendared vinyl on flat vehicle surfaces all the time. Price seems to be #1 priority anymore and I can't get anybody to pay for cast. We did this whole project with 3551 / 290G:
  14. Sign Prices

Pretty simple one to get stumped on! (Materials X 1.5) + (hours X hourly rate) = price Insert "post in premium section" rants here:
  15. airbrush job

I sketched it on masking paper then pounce wheeled it. I put transfer tape on the truck and pounced the pattern to that and then cut and painted in sections. After unmasking, I freehanded the shadows and smoke effect.
  16. airbrush job

I just realized the head looked plain white in my cell phone pic.
  17. airbrush job

This isn't exactly my style, but it's what the customer wanted. The base on the truck is a dark blue pearl and he will be spraying the clear. I hope to get some more pics of it after he does that. It's all PPG DBC base coat and all applied with an Iwata HP-C airbrush over sanded clear coat.
  18. Trailer wrap questions

210 over screws? Yikes. I've used the 3165 or 3551 but always with 290 cast lam if there are screws. If it's screwless or has small rivets, the 210 is ok.
  19. 2 Recent Partials

I really like the Subaru, nice flow. Did you plotter cut or hand cut your edges (like where the soccer player silhouette goes out past the stripes on to the paint)?
  20. Crazy background patterns, etc...

I'm guessing everything on that truck can be bought from Fellers. Look on page 72.
