  1. Suggestions for a plotter for very small business

yes, I work at a printing company. signs are a real small part which we fell into and I pretty much deal with. the owner isnt letting it grow as much as I likefor it to (and im really into it!) so I figurw I could do my own thing from home for some side cash. with any luck, he will let me order...
  2. Suggestions for a plotter for very small business

Wow, wasnt expecting that low! Im more than ok with used also
  3. Suggestions for a plotter for very small business

Im not really sure honestly, kind of playing it by ear. Maybe $1000? Really rather not go that high unless I have to though
  4. Suggestions for a plotter for very small business

Im considering getting a plotter to create vinyl decals with for a small business. Probably more of an Etsy thing to start and some local gigs if Im lucky. Currently I use a high end Roland Soljet Pro XC-540 printer/plotter at work which I LOVE but its out of my price range to have at home...
  5. Removing vinyl letters from vinyl banner

Client brought us a previously made banner from somewhere else and needs a date change made to it. The lettering is cutout vinyl. It seems to me you can just pull the lettering off with your fingernail but dont want to experiment on this just yet. Is there a "better" method to doing this...
  6. Trick to layering colored vinyl, or need different machine?

Well with the printing business slowly dying thanks to more affordable and better quality home and business printers, we have to find other things we can merge into. In fact, I want to get into much more if my boss wasnt so nervous about getting into something we dont know that much about. Im...
  7. Trick to layering colored vinyl, or need different machine?

In this case, its the customer who would be installing. They would probably get a handful of these and apply them as they need them
  8. Trick to layering colored vinyl, or need different machine?

Youtube has everything :-). I had always assumed it was a special machine other than a standard printer/plotter but looks like it is done by hand. I knew if there was a trick to doing it manually, I would hate myself for not realizing it was that easy :-). It all makes sense to me now, just...
  9. Attaching banner to angled roof, cant use nails

Good advice but I think they plan on mounting this themselves. We would only be doing the printing. Sign codes are not an issue either, its out in the country. I was trying to think of some kind of alternative, like maybe PVC lettering. Wind wouldnt be an issue but I guess you would still...
  10. Attaching banner to angled roof, cant use nails

A client want to put some large vinyl banners on their angled rooftop. The landlord will not let them nail them into the roof. The only way I can think to do it is run rope through grommets that are staked into the ground, thrown over the rooftop and through the grommets, and staked into the...
  11. Trick to layering colored vinyl, or need different machine?

Someone wants us to duplicate some vehicle decals they order through someone else. Looking at it closely, there is no printing. Its made up of black vinyl with red or silver vinyl over top. Of course, the colored ones on top of the black are placed in a very exact position on the black. Both...
  12. How to apply existing poster to foamcore?

What type of glue should I use to apply someones existing poster to foamcore? I assume some kind of spray adhesive?
  13. best way to hang small sign on existing thin rubber core sign

The work order from the company that made the sign says its rubber. I looked at it yesterday and can confirm that. The small sign Im going to add will probably be thin PVC. I thought about S hooks but they may have to be unusually long because the middle of the sign dips down pretty long. Also...
  14. best way to hang small sign on existing thin rubber core sign

The existing sign is thin aluminum on both sides with a rubber core. I need to hang a smaller sign below it but not sure of the best way for it to look good. I cant see any other way to do it than to just drill holes in the existing sign but feel that would look half ***. Maybe grommets? Id...
  15. Removing large vinyl from light up sign

agreed which is why im only getting everything straight for a quote right now, havent taken anything yet. Its also why im on Signs 101 and not Signs 102 ;-)
  16. Removing large vinyl from light up sign

    Not sure what you mean
  17. Removing large vinyl from light up sign

Im getting all the pricing together for the supplies to make one from scratch. Just realized that the vinyl letters will be in reverse...letters are white, the background will be the color. So in this case, it would be best to apply the vinyl first before applying the trim cap, correct?
  18. Removing large vinyl from light up sign

Dunno, maybe rust or something from the light box it came off of
  19. Removing large vinyl from light up sign

Gotta love youtube! :-) I think I see whats going on, I think mine would be a lot less complex than what this guy is using since its just a long capsule shaped. Probably a good shape for a first time attempt, thanks :-)
