  1. Hows Business???

scene- I disagree. Most reasonable people are willing to pay a little extra for a superior product that is produced locally. I'm not about to compete with crappy banners being peddled on ebay by people with pre-school design skills. The customers that buy those get what they deserve. Most people...
  2. Magazine ad

A long-time friend and customer of mine is a pro-freestyle jet ski champion who now makes his own custom machines. I'm a member of a boating forum which was holding a meet at our local lake. The event was to be covered for an article in the print magazine that hosts the online forum. I arranged...
  3. Hows Business???

This time of the year has always been slow for us. This year is a little worse than average but not much. It's tempting to give in to the low-ballers, but if you are putting out quality work, you shouldn't have to. I lose jobs on price pretty regularly. Quite a few of the jobs we get are former...
  4. Any problems with this wrap?

Pat, it doesn't look very shiny. Less "agressive" surfaces like that are more prone to failure. Clean, clean, clean and then clean some more. As far as the dimension, it doesn't look too bad. I would definitely remove as many trim pieces as possible, like the headlight rings, etc. Having had my...
  5. Wrap pricing question..

Again with the secret society crap... as if somebody trolling the net can't find this info elsewhere in 10 seconds. 49 sq ft = $490
  6. best price on 180c-10 & 3m 8518?

As if this info isn't readily available in 10 seconds on google. You guys kill me with your secret society b.s.
  7. Sandblasted sign

Good stuff as usual, John. I saw that Black Mountain Park on "Trucks!" on Spike TV Sunday. Looks like a fun place.

More progress with the chopper parts... I've been working on the chopper between other jobs. I already gave the builder the oil tank, handle bars and some misc. parts back. Here are some in-progress shots of the gas tank. I hope to make it shiny tomorrow. More varigated leaf & tattoo...
  9. Another wrap we did before Christmas

I've been pitching the blueprint background to contractors every chance I get. We haven't had a chance to do it yet, but I think I have one on the hook. Unfortunately, it's a pick-up... so it won't be as easy to pull off. Every wrap can be nit-picked, but I think this one is nice... and a...
  10. hand painted goldleaf wording

Have you seen his other work? It ain't the first time he's done it.
  11. Looking for some input...

It was my understanding that he wants to wrap the truck with matte laminated print and then overlay gloss lam just on the logo. It would be slick if you could pull it off. The other option would be to leave the logo out of the wrap, print / cut it with gloss lam and lay it over but it would be...
  12. Looking for some input...

I kinda liked the stripe along the bottom that listed the services. I think I'd try blowing the logo up really big on the back and then putting just your services & phone # in the upper right. I'm sure you can cut just the lam on your plotter with a 'lil trial & error on the pressure... but how...
  13. Looking for some input...

The color change helped a lot. I'm not sure how you feel about tweaking the proportions of your logo... but I think maybe the crown should fill the window up a little more. I like the lighter color for the main text. I actually do think that your design lends itself to matte lam. I was going to...
  14. Looking for some input...

I think you need to make the "Grand Wraps .com" a lighter color... off white maybe. A splash of red would also look cool on the logo somewhere. As far as a partial wrap... what color is the truck?
  15. Contractor Truck / Trailer combo.

Finished this up this afternoon for a high school friend of mine. The logo is printed on Oracal 3951 & laminated with 290G. The rest is regular old cut vinyl.
  16. Newly completed project

Looks nice! I'm getting ready do install some dry-stack stone in my basement. Did you install that part? If so, any helpful tips?
  17. fellers platinum packages

Yes and they are top notch. You found a place that only required you to sell one leg?
  18. laminator

That's what I meant... We only got a 10 minute lesson from an installer who had little experience actually using the laminator and we had a very short learning curve. Rather than trying to get a rep to give you a lesson, how about a forum member. If I were closer, I'd be happy to show you the...
  19. Recent Paint Jobs

I almost always use PPG base and clear. The base is DBC, the clear is JC620. The artwork is all DBC too, except the gold leaf of course. The orange is Chrysler Prowler Orange with a whole bunch of gold pearl added.
  20. Recent Paint Jobs

Chopper- I hurried to get the frame / rear fender combo & springer front end back to the builder so he could start final assembly. Now I just have to do the gas & oil tanks and some other small misc. parts. The owner wanted "gold leaf & some new-school tattoo type stuff." He liked it. The...
