  1. Will the real DeSoto please stand up.....

Industry certification? It certainly couldn't be enforced unless the feds say you gotta be before you can buy a printer. A Lowen, SGIA or Fellers certification wouldn't mean jack to anybody who walks through the door at my shop. You're only as good as your last job and that speaks for you...
  2. Helmet Wrap

existenceONE- ok, spill the goods. How the hell do you template that, how many pieces are there, what material is it, how long does it take you... and good god, what could you possibly be charging to make it worthwhile? Oh yea, excellent work.
  3. One shot questions? Reducing one shot

Depending on the project and the temperature, I'll use mineral spirits, automotive reducer or wax & grease remover. I do a lot of striping at car lots and I've found that no matter what measures I take, they get touched and smeared. This is when I use the wax & grease remover because it dries...
  4. To All of the Signs101 Family

There were a lot of people there tonight and I hope that the event on the 18th is equally attended. If possible, me & my family will be there. Michael & Krista, your thanks are appreciated, but not necessary. You should be thanked for helping Matt in his mission of continuing the Down Town and...
  5. To All of the Signs101 Family

To those of you who emailed me pics... Thanks, but time was of the essence and I had to improvise. I used a photo from Atlantic City that was posted on this thread earlier (sorry, I forgot who posted it). I admit that my design is not top notch, but again... time. I threw this together and...
  6. To All of the Signs101 Family

I just talked to Matt's friend Michael. We're making some banners for the wing-off event tonight to promote another benefit for Matt's family. Can somebody please email me one of the photos that you all have? ASAP, thanks! Thad icondigital@verizon.net
  7. To All of the Signs101 Family

I'm sure somebody is designing the banner that Krista mentioned as I type this. We're right next door in Hollidaysburg, if a design is chosen we'd be happy to print, finish & deliver it. Also, Krista... if you need us to help keep the ball rolling at the shop until you get back on your feet...
  8. To All of the Signs101 Family

Although we're from the same area, I didn't know Matt well. He did bail me out once when my printer was down and wouldn't take any money. I also had the pleasure of having a beer poured by Matt a few weeks ago at the local "wing-off." He was a genuinely nice guy and will be missed on the board...
  9. 3 yr old 1204 VJ, just started to do this please check out these photos!!

Where did you get a printhead for $1200?
  10. 1604 bad head?

So, where do you advise me to get a printhead? The best price so far is $1635 + shipping. Any suggestions?
  11. 1604 bad head?

Look, I may sound like I'm whining... but I have a legit complaint. I spent A LOT of $ on this thing and it hasn't run consecutively for more than 3 months in the 15 months that I've had it. We were on a first name basis with the techs for the first year. Mutoh graciously extended my warranty...
  12. 1604 bad head?

It's been about 15 months and we don't use it as heavily as many shops do. Also, in that time the printer has been down about 10% of the time. Maybe I got a lemon but I'll try another brand the next time.
  13. 1604 bad head?

According to everybody I've talked to this morning, my 1604 needs a new head. I'll never buy another Mutoh, this thing has been nothing but trouble. Anybody have any suggestions about where to get this? How intense is the install? I'll do it myself if I can. Help!
  14. VJ 1604... extended warranty vs replacement

We are close to the expiration of the warranty on our VJ1604. We recently had some major down time due to error codes and several visits from the techs. Toward the end, I asked the distributor to replace the printer, which they did with a used 1614 from their shop. It's been here for a bit...
  15. PhotoPrint 6... Just say NO!

We got PhotoPrint 6 with our system and it was no where near ready to go. After TONS of wasted ink and vinyl, not to mention TIME, they reversed us to PhotoPrint 5 and the problems were eventually worked out, but what a hassle. Fellers & SAI were more than attentive to the problem and were great...
  16. VJ1604 Lining up to the take-up roll.

Interesting. The installer put it all together. I didn't think there was adjustment in the install. Maybe that's off. I might have to tweak it. hmmm
  17. VJ1604 Lining up to the take-up roll.

Anybody have any tips for me on how to get the media to track better onto the take-up? Bad tracking causes lamination woes (especially with 60" media) and adjusting during the print has been a nightmare. How ya doin' it?
  18. Valuejet 64"

It automatically goes to the capping station and cleans the head after a head strike? Ours didn't. The media bunched up and we weren't babysitting it. There were alot of headstrikes and it just kept printing. The lint-free soaking method with 91% alcohol was a quick fix.
  19. Banner on Mutoh Valuejet 1604

I did some 13 oz Zeelon and had some similar problems. Not severe, but when hemming it was rubbing off a little and that was after sitting for a day. My heaters were at 40/40/45, I think... and I was having heating issues in the shop. I think it was a temperature issue.
  20. The "Wrap Daddy" Computer

    Nah, workin'.
