  1. Gray... ugh....

i1 Match profile creation software does not provide much in the area of adjusting GCR values. It only offers two preset conditions, Inkjet 260 and Inkjet 400. The other potential option would be to edit the ICC to tune grayscale for specific lighting conditions, using i1Match's Profile...
  2. color question

CMYK-based color charts will almost certainly produce a subset of all colors that your combination of printer, ink, RIP, media, and other variables (together referred to as your Unique Print Environment or UPE) are capable of. As the previous poster noted, use of spot colors can help if your RIP...
  3. Versaworks help

In Versaworks: Edit Menu > Queue A/B Settings > File Format Tab (down left side of page) > EPS Margin = .05" > OK button. Problem solved.
  4. VersaWorks

Versaworks will run on 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. Be aware that it is presently a 32-bit application, but it will run just fine in these 32 and 64 bit OS environments.
  5. i1 Xtreme Problems

The white tile is 'married' to each i1 Pro unit at the time of manufacture. As you have experienced, if the white tile is damaged (or in this case dirty), it becomes pretty useless. Glad to hear that you got it sorted out.
  6. Roland ECO ink not so ECO ???

No need to speculate as to the contents or remediation of Roland's Max inkset. Here is a link to pull down the MSDS for EcoSol Max ink: http://support.rolanddga.com/_layouts/rolandreports/_productsupportsearch.aspx?pf=Wide+Format+VersaCAMM+Inkjets&pm=SP-300i/SP-540i Click the link 'MSDS'...
  7. Roland ECO ink not so ECO ???

Yellow inksets of all varities (including water-based) often carry warnings on yellow ink. This is due to the common use of Nickel compounds in yellow ink, and has nothing to do with VOCs or HAPs.
  8. x-rite

Pat: Here is a link to the i1 Basic page on X-Rite's web site: http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?ID=1238 A better solution for end-to-end color management would be the i1 XTreme - here is the link: http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?ID=1240 Cost for i1 XTreme is roughly...
  9. x-rite

Optical brighteners are sometimes present on coated print media, which fools the eye into looking 'whiter' than uncoated media. These optical brighteners actually impart a blue cast into the media, which thus look brighter and whiter. These coatings also can fool the ICC profile into thinking...
  10. x-rite

The X-Rite i1 Basic package is terrific for monitor profile creation, but cannot create CMYK printer profiles without optional modules (read more $). This may be a moot point if your RIP itself can create the ICC profile.
  11. ICC profiles for Versaworks

You can (and really should) create custom media configurations in Versaworks, particularly when you are using 3rd-party ink. The new media configurations are created in Media Explorer (Media Menu > Media Explorer). To do this, you will need a supported spectrophotometer such as an Xrite i1...
  12. Shipping of a Roland Versacamm...

There is a bracket to secure the print carriage that must be put in place before moving the printer. This ensures that the head will not travel far from the capping stations. The best bet would be to put the printer into an enclosed truck with a minimal amount of airflow around the machine...
  13. New HP Designjet L25500 Series Printers

As I understand it don't these latex printers require multiple 220v circuits to power the printer and heater systems, or am I mis-informed on this?
  14. VersaWorks and Flexi contour cutting

Versaworks will not sent data to the Graphtec. There is a plug-in that comes with FC-series Graphtec plotters that would allow you to do this called Cutting Master 2.
  15. Digital Printing

In attempting to decipher the OP: On the Designjet 5000 series (includes 5500) printers, there are two inksets available, called Dye and UV (pigment) respectively. For applications that will be outdoors, the UV pigment ink would be recommended. Indoor-only applications can use either inkset.
  16. Hard drive went out in Roland..Help!!

Roland printers don't have hard disk drives.
  17. Does your Roland ever squeak?

Bravo H2OK. Looks like your region is being well-served.
  18. Does your Roland ever squeak?

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the term "wallered out". The capping stations on the Roland RS machines, (like the VP machines) use a system where the captops move laterally on a cam to cap and uncap the heads. Other Roland printers use a more traditional elevator for this. This can produce an...
  19. New HP Designjet L25500 Series Printers

The retail prices that have been conveyed to me are between $20-$27,000 for the machines (42 and 60 inch).
