New brand... new sign.

We are officially switching to our new brand effective February 1st, 2013. We have till September 2013 to completely switch over, but I'm not wasting any time! I have our indoor sign completed, ready to hang. Cut Vinyl on 080 aluminum, 2 sided. I really love our new brand. It is a huge change for the franchise (FINALLY)! The line "Division of Kwik Kopy Printing" is temporary during the transition phase (probably a year and we can lose that line). It is so that our existing client base can tie the old brand to the new brand without getting too confused (which I think is malarky... but franchise rules say we must use it on our main signage :frustrated:).

We are however able to sub-brand in our marketing and packaging materials. For instance, I will be doing a lot of branding & marketing under the name "KKP Signs" and "KKP Promo".

I'm kind of stuck for ideas as to what to do with our outdoor sign. This was put up for us about 9 years ago and I have no clue who put it up. It was paid for and arranged by our old landlord as a part of our lease signing. Don't know if this is something I want to tackle myself or not.

Any suggestions? I don't necessarily like the oval shape for the new logo, but I think changing the entire thing would be quite costly.

Looks good Tim! I think it looks sharper and more modern without losing the feel and identity of the old logo

I sell signage and signage accessories.
you can *probably* take just the face of the outside sign down and have someone rout it out for you.

Hey Tim........

Looks great !! Before you start cranking these babies out...... re-check the spacing between DIGITAL // PROMO. Either it's an optical illusion or the kerning is actually way off because of the 'L', but I'd visually tweak it a bit.

I'd change from the oval completely. While the oval is an eye catcher, it's also a way to lose valuable space to just plain air. Plus, there's nothing elliptical in your new logo, so if you want change...... change it out and go rectangular and incorporate a triangle on it or something.

Good catch Gino... There is only one space in there like the others, but it is definitely a visually wider gap. I will fix it! :thumb: And thanks for the advice on the exterior sign (Gino and Jon). My gut tells me to take it down and re-do the whole thing (it's damaged a little from a truck backing into it 7 years ago), but my bank account begs to differ! I will have to get some quotes and see what the damage would be! To be honest, I'm not even sure that this particular sign drives any business in anyhow. It is located on the side entrance of the building. Although... with the Tim Hortons right next door now, it might just do us some good (especially if I take Gino's advice and put a whole new one up ).

I'll keep ya posted!

+1, I saw that too.

Other than that, I'm loving the progression of your business. Keep up the good work!

No additional projections, but just a different shape can do it sometimes...........

I wasn't sure how far past the end you could go without violating some code or not. In this case, you end up with more negative space in the upper right corner, but hey...... that's the way they designed the new logo.

Don't take this wrong, I love the upgrade to your new logo. It is just that I saw the big beak thing trying to eat those letters when I first saw it. So I think it makes a good brand for what you do. Kind of like the arrow in the fedex.

good idea gino. I love that wall bracket and doing what Gino suggested keeps it fresh, but also keeps that cool looking bracket.

:ROFLMAO: Priceless John!!

I LOVE IT Gino! I think that's along the lines of what Pat had in mind. I don't think that would project out too much at all. I'm gonna have to roll in this direction for sure. That is sweet.. :thankyou: Now... if only they had run electric to the sign... Oh well, we get 14 - 18 hours of daylight in the spring & summer months!

I've been informed this morning that because our corporate office is removing the requirement for the tag line "Division of Kwik Kopy Printing" next year, I DON'T have to include it on my new outdoor sign!! :clapping::clapping: That is great news, as I don't want the words "Kwik Kopy" associated with our business any more than it has to be!! :Big Laugh

Now I just need to find someone who can do this sign for me!

I would almost think that if you don't want to reface the existing sign, the most efficient way of replacing the sign (rather than trying to use the existing framework) is to get the dimensions of the existing mounting plate and the center-to-centers of the mounting hardware. Then just manufacture (or have manufactured) a sign that you can install in the same spot using the same/similar hardware.

Hey Tim.... I didn't make that to resemble an electric sign, but a 3D cut out with acrylic inset for the logo portion only. You'd probably have to put another support closer to the building to make it safe regardless.

Yeah, I was thinking that also, as I'm not sure exactly how the existing framework is actually attached to the existing sign. I suspect it's one piece, or welded in place and will be a pain to switch out. I'm gonna have a company who does this stuff come in and have a look. I have a budget to work within, so hopefully I can get it to where I'd like it to be.

Yeah, I figured that Gino! I was just thinking that it would look sweet as an illuminated sign also... but the acrylic inset idea is second best! I'm going to have a company come in and advise me of weight load on the existing mounting solution. I do know that it is bolted into a concrete pillar (underneath the wrap they put there several years back).

On another note... I fixed the spacing issue on our indoor hanging sign! :clapping:
