Rigid Ceiling Mount Needed for Exterior Sign

I need to make some non-illuminated, ceiling-mounted signs to go under a walkway at a strip mall. They will be approximately 4ftx1ft. I know I can make a standard cabinet box, but I'm hoping to do something more economically.

Sooper U brackets might work. What are you making the sign out of?

Not sure what you're gonna do or use, but you better make sure you don't obstruct those surveillance cameras.

not sure yet, it depends on the bracket. I think i want something more substantial than U brackets though. They just redid the facade of the mall, so it needs to be a good combination of nice and cheap. ha.

thanks, i am hoping for something a little nicer, but you are right, this is an excellent economical sign. i'll give them this option along with hopefully something else.

those aren't cameras, they are photocels for the lights.

Why not, just put a 90º in a piece of .080 and fasten through itself ?? Paint the return the same color as the ceiling. If ya want, put 2 or 3 spacers in there so air can travel through the top. Or, just put a piece of 1" x 1" angle aluminum up there and attach a sign to it .

some kid jumps up and smacks it, and it crashes-down, you're still to blame.

I see can lights, however. Can you get access above the ceiling?
I would be trying to span supports, and suspend it with thru-bolts.

this is exactly why I asked for ideas. we can actually access the inside, there are no other signs because it was just redone and all the old ceiling mounted signs were removed, and there are cross supports that we plan to use when we install. we know what the framework looks like because its right outside our shop . My landlord is "thrifty" so I know if I need to propose something that he'll be able to swallow without lecturing me about how he just put a bazillion dollars into our storefront and bla bla bla. we are also insanely careful with all of our installs and will over-engineer things because we are so afraid of it falling down!

Anyway, I think we are going to get 1"x2"x0.125" aluminum U channel and install like this...
