They've prescribed <more> meds to help him stay relaxed, but I'm thinking that if we learned some techniques it might help too.

Some basic biofeedback might do wonders, I bought a unit from Radio Shack for $15 ten-twenty years ago that works on this same idea:

And body scan can help as well:

I used two items similar to these to overcome severe migraines many years ago.

Best wishes.

Biofeedback is great. I have issues with anxiety and my dr has me going to see a biofeedback specialist. It is amazing at how strong the mind is, and how it controls the body. My biofeedback person told me the other day that she treats people with heart conditions that can't have any more surgeries and it really helps them. Check it out. PM me if you have any questions. I will be praying for you guys!

stacy, google CHI GONG..........this works. i smoked for 30 years. had my 1st heart attack at 42.(1987) it blocked my right artery. never went to doctor/hospital, started doing tai chi/chi gong couple years after it. i miraculously got better in a couple years. 2009, i had my 1st heat cath. it was like a show n tell at the hospital. the doc doing the cath, brought in the head heart surgeon and a couple others to show them what the heart can do if left alone to heal. they was amazed that........my heart regrew new, what they called "collateral veins" to bypass the blocked artery. dec28th, 2010 when they had my chest open, the doctor told me they was thinking of doing a by pass on the right artery, but decided the body did a better job then they could!!!!!! in the years following the 87 heart attack, i really got into tai chi/chi gong. in essence i got 21 years of life without medical intervention after a major heart attack. chi gong can be done in a chair, or standing. learning how to perform these exercises is important. but i can say they work. my instructor was in sarasota..........i just found one of my instructors in sarasota. get ahold of her and tell her i told you to contact her.

That's terrible Stacy, I wish there was something I could do. Whatever happens in the future, make sure to make the best of the time you have together. Even if that time is up 20 years from now. I'm sure that goes without saying, but I always struggle with finding something to say during times like these. Thoughts and prayers being sent your way.

The bypass surgery was in June of last year so he's pretty healed from that. Latest surgery was the defib that "most" people recover from in a few days.

Doctor said he is amazed that Jeff is still here and wouldn't count him out on anything. But anytime the premier cardiologist in town sits down alone in a room with ya' for 20-30 minutes to make sure you understand how fragile things are - you know to pay attention.

Doc also told him he was his "pet patient" that he talks about a lot with other doctors looking for alternative ways to help him. He has yet to find any cardiologist that has had a patient that has lived through everything my Bigdawg has - and most of them are flat amazed that Jeff is alive - yet alone functioning as well as he does.

I still say Bigdawg is friggin' Superman... just getting a little closer to the Kryptonite

Catching up on this today Stacy... Sounds like you and the Bigdawg are fighting a great fight! I'll be praying for both of you and for the doctors involved. Remember... Superman (or Clarke) always finds a way to escape the kryptonite! The will to live is an amazing thing and even though we may not know God's plans in our lives, I do know that He hears our prayers. He is strong in the Bigdawg, and I can see that the Bigdawg is strong in Him!
