US Tariffs, Sigh!

Now it's my turn to ask do you honestly believe what comes out of your mouth or do you just make talking points.
No, tariffs are not illegal. Him imposing them is not illegal. It's the same as sanctions.
Do you still believe he's a Russian asset? because that's the conspiracy that's now coming out.
No, it's not suspicious for a private citizen to back up and say, "wait, why do I have to do this again?" I know I would. What's funny is that George W. Bush may have released his tax returns, but he still did shady shit with shell companies. George HW was running drugs through Arkansas, Texas and Florida when he was president. Guess who was governors of those states. But people turned a blind eye to that one.
All of those presidents did some shady shit AND showed their tax returns. Guess what, no one bothered to look. Sure, they were available, but who looked?
And BIDEN? that asshole has been stealing documents since the 70s. and he still showed his tax returns. Looks like they all used shell companies to hide their assets.

My point to this is just because you show your tax returns doesn't mean that you're transparent.

Tarrifs are not illegal... but he doesn't have the authority to impose the tarrifs he's imposing. He's supposed to have power, which was delegated to him by congress to improse emergency tarrifs - You can't just scream everything is an emergency so you can abuse those powers. Congress can issue whatever tarrifs they want on any country - That power was given to them in the constitution. They delegated a bit away to the president, so during war times / times of crisis the president can act without having to go through congress. So if russia invades USA, or another Country... Trump can add a million percent tarrif on them if he wants to. If Trump feels like every country is ripping USA off, him screaming Emergency and tarrifing every country is NOT what congress delegated to him. Theres a reason why it's in court, and will be heading to the supreme court... He's spouting some onscure 1977 law, which has nothing to do with tariffs as his reasoning for being allowed to impose them. Congress controls the purse... not the president. As an American, you should brush up on what each branch of the government does... And WHY it's three branches who all have seperate powers, to supposedly keep each power in check.

I've never believed, nor said Trump was a Russian asset.... Never did, nor do I to this day.

Sure, a private citizen can do what they want. But when you're running for, and accepting the highest position in office... you kind of give up a bit of your "I'm a private citizen, I'm not doing that!" rights. It's the same in ANY other business - I again point to tulsa... She gave up and divested away from her Tesla stocks because she didnt want anyone to even think she has a conflict of interest. Why didn't she as a private citizen tell everyone to pound sand?

Theres a thing called "Held to a higher standard". And when you're in the most powerful position in the world, don't you think the person in that position should be held to a higher standard than joe blow down the street? Theres so many reasons trump should release his tax return / divulge everything he has interests in... Yeah, I'm sure all the presidents before him released it and still did shady shit. Now imagine how much more shady shit they could get away with if they didn't release it.

Why do the Democrats have to be brought into every single argument? When you got in trouble for fighting, did you say but so and so fights? If you got in shit for being a bad employee, do you blame others? You shouldn't view the presidency as The democrats did worst so what he's doing is fine. Hold EVERYONE to a high standard... And if the Democrats bitch more, and louder... Well, speak up more and be louder.

I've condemned democrats PLENTY, I even said I voted for Trump because of what Hilary did with her E-mails. The difference is I put my money where my mouth is, I'm not afraid of condemning them, I'm not afraid of voting against them and calling them out when they do illegal shit... But what do you want, me to do a history lesson and go through all the bad shit Democrats did? Theres a reason I think most billionaires and people in power are shitbags.... It's not jealousy, it's because almost ALL of them do corrupt shit because they can get away with it. Pick any president... Democrat or Republican, And I'm sure you / I can dig up stuff on them thats bad..

I tell my wife everytime it comes up, that Trump is still a better choice than Hilary... Because for all the bad shit trumps done, all the skirting the laws, I'm sure Hilary would have done 10x as much that we never would have heard about, and she would have got away with it. At least people are challenging trump and a lot of his shit gets over turned.

[Edit] If you havent... watch the show house of cards. It's obviously to the extreme, I doubt the president has / or would ever push someone off a train track... but I guarantee you its a pretty accurate portrayal of politics / people in power, and all the shady shit they do to stay in power with backroom deals.

I believe I mentioned both Bush's (both republican) as well as the other guys. So I didn't say, "but democrats". You filled in your own blanks. I was literally pointing to the last 40 years since bush sr got into office. (It even goes back to Reagan and even back to LBJ.) I could point out all of the policies that each president has had his hand in to get us in the trash heap we are in today.

Trump has been sued for damn near everything he has done while in office. Not because he doesn't know what he's doing, but because the beurocrats don't LIKE what he's doing. ANYONE can file a lawsuit. That doesn't mean it has merit.

You giving me a government lesson from Canada is really rich.

So, back to tariffs, all other politics aside, how do you guys plan to cope with the 50% going onto coffee out of Brazil? My coffee budget isn't prepared for this, and using less product isn't an option.

Dang, it's going to go up more?! Boooo. The coffee I buy at Costco (Folgers) used to be $9.50 for a big can - bought some a couple of weeks ago and it was $17.00 wtf. I hate this timeline.

I used to buy 32oz of Yuban when kroger would have it on sale, buying 12 cans at around $6 or $8 each, so maybe 6 months of coffee for $80. They recently (pre-election) raised the price to $12, lowered the volume to 27.9oz, stopped putting it on sale, and never have it in stock. Looking today, it's on sale! $12 instead of $15... I've just been buying random dark roast coffee at the market until I can find something I like as well, cause I fcking hate kroger!

Kentucky has millions of barrels of whiskey that will be auctioned off in the coming months, as several distilleries are filing for bankruptcy. I know it's not coffee, but it will still give you a litttle zing to start your day off and best of all...no tariffs.

I've been drinking mushroom coffee. (everyday dose). it's a tad expensive itself, but after having a caffeine dependency for 20+ years, I got off cold turkey. No wine, no coffee, and I'm still a little off. :p

Is this for real or a joke? I'm starting to get annoyed that we can no longer get Bourbon in Canada at the government-owned liquor marts. I'll stay out of the political debate rabbit hole but I will say that stockpiling American liquor instead of selling it to "prove a point" is ridiculous. I may have to drive down and buy a case soon, running dangerously low on Maker's Mark.

bourbon old fashioned
highly recommended, especially when they didn’t have enough High West to make, so i was allowed to blend in Bulleit Bourbon and I got a double for the price of one.

They're not stock piling it just to not sell it to us.... And Canada isn't stockpiling it. Kentucky just has a huge surplus.

BC and Ontario which makes up for like 90% of Canada bourbon sales won't sell it on their government shelves as a retaliatory tarrif type deal.... Not a tarrif really, but a way to put political pressure on a red state to get trump to stop the dumb tariffs.

Canada was a huge portion of Kentucky whiskey exports.... So rather than fire their staff / stop producing It, they opt to keep producing it in hopes that this blows over.... But it hasnt in many months, so I'm sure they have a huge stockpile of whiskey theyre storing.

I doubt they'll actually sell it for cheap though, unless they need the cash... Whiskey gets better with age!

Yeah I meant stockpiling in terms of the government-run liquor distributors, (MBLL, LCBO, dunno what you have in BC) that are sitting on millions of inventory rather than selling it, in the name of "proving a point". Not entirely sure how that works in terms of when they pay suppliers or if it's a consignment type deal but I read an article the other day that was saying NS alone had like $15M in US booze sitting around. Kinda silly. Just sell the damn stuff then don't re-order it. You're only punishing us poor Bourbon drinkers! :roflmao:

Edited to add, found article here: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/nslc-american-alcohol-booze-pulled-from-shelves-1.7589952

big fan of Bourbon Bloody Mary's too. you can double the alcohol and not even notice a difference in taste unlike vodka that will ruin the flavor with too much booze.

point to the doll, and tell me where the tax returns touched you.
would you like his golf handicap too? maybe some dick pics?

i'm so sorry this is so difficult, but your TDS is incurable and whatever point you're trying to make has no merit whatsoever.
I don't care who said this or who was the recipient, but this is the funniest thing I've read in days.

What is behind the bankruptcies? It certainly can't be the tariffs or the moratorium on access to the Ontario consumer.

From what I read, it was a combination of legalized weed, uncertain trade conditions, younger people not drinking like they did in decades past, and yes, the Canadian boycotts played a role.
Canada and EU combined represented 40% of the market, and I would assume a considerable amount of that will never return.
