  1. Mutoh 1641 Ink streaking blobs excess ink

It could be a combination of both. The media is definitely warping due to heat and causing head strikes but that seems like a lot of ink being left behind as well.
  2. transfering onyx from my pc that died

What victor said. There are ways of recovering data from broken hard drives but I'd simply plug it into a new computer and see what happens first. Also, does Onyx have a way to transfer the license to new computer? Whenever I run into this issue with Rasterlink, we just deregister the license...
  3. THE BIGFISH DIGITAL IS BACK!!!

    Welcome back!
  4. Suggestions How to get a jobs

Especially the ones with old, broken down signs.
  5. A touchy subject

People simply don't read. We run a small FedEx ship center, a glorified drop box, in our building. We put a giant sign up saying, "Already have a label? Put your package in this area and it will ship today." and another one, "We cannot scan QR codes." Guess which two questions we get the most?
  6. Ghost lines in nozzle test print

Partially clogged nozzles and/or damaged nozzles form head strikes. Anything that deforms the nozzle will cause the ink to fire incorrectly. Check your wiper too. If it's not making perfect contact with the head surface, the nozzles might be having to fire through residual ink which causes...
  7. Need Help Mimaki CJV150-75 / Parallels 11 Mac mini M4

The first time we had a customer want to run a Mimaki on a Mac with Parallels was the last time. We tell anyone wanting to do it to get a PC laptop or that we'll get the printer printing but they have to figure out the Mac/Software part on their own.
  8. Dumb Question - Print Modes

That was my first thought too but when I looked into it, it's actually specific to how Onyx processes the files and converts it to print data. I don't know of any head that has a native resolution of 360 either. Usually when you see resolutions in multiples of 360, the head's native resolution...
  9. Dumb Question - Print Modes

The first number is what they call the, "Process Resolution." It has to do with the conversion of the print file data from contone (the digital data being processed) to halftone (the data the printer prints). Lower process resolution RIPs faster but will produce a lower quality print. Higher...
  10. Freezing (stops responding) overnight VS-300

Are you printing overnight? If so, it's probably the computer going to sleep and the printer stops receiving data.
  11. Versa...Works or VersaVacation?: Why Is My Print Head Wandering Like It's on Vacation? Versaworks - versauv leaf - 12i and leaf2 -200 - unacceptable t

I don't know if it's a RIP thing or a printer thing but I've definitely seen a Mutoh skip the white space.
  12. Let's Emulate A Mimaki Chip! (DS2430/DS2431) compatible!

    Do Mutoh smart cards next!
  13. I've been thinking about including these with all printer orders as a gag. What do you think?

Hey at least you give a cable! A lot of manufacturers don't on their $20k machines!
  14. Grimco Buys GSG

15 years ago I started working for Signage Specialist in Denver. Back then there was Fellers, Grimco, Denco, MidWest, Montroy, Milano and a few others I'm sure I'm leaving out serving the area. Now it's basically Grimco and us although Milano does sell substrate but no machine sales or service...
  15. Question Lack of video DIY question

That's true. I've never looked into the numbers for monetization and whether it would be worth it. If you have the time and motivation, could be a nice project. I'm no lawyer or anything but, as long as it's just you showing how you fix your machine and not displaying the manual contents on the...
  16. Question Lack of video DIY question

The only legal action Mimaki can take is protecting their tech manuals. So if you want to make a video of you fixing your printer, go right ahead, but if you give out manuals in public, they could hit you with a cease and desist. But I'm sure you've found that finding them isn't that hard...
  17. News Reece Supply charging for deliveries

Needing to charge extra for unforeseen costs etc. is fine as long as the customer is informed first. When I get my tires changed, they show me the full cost upfront and I approve it. If there's a charge that wasn't discussed ahead of time on the final bill, I absolutely would contest it.
  18. Mimaki JFX200EX Nozzle Drop

Usually in these situations I do an air purge first. Tends to fix ink flow issues.
  19. News Reece Supply charging for deliveries

It's illegal here too. All card transactions have to have an explicit approval from the card holder to charge the card. While I agree that this is probably due to the policy changing and the web team not being on the same page, they should probably refund the charge and not charge anyone else...
  20. Rip software no flexi?

Pretty much everyone is subscription only now. I believe the only mainstream RIP that has a perpetual license available is Caldera. I've heard Flexi will sell you one if you ask directly instead of ordering on the site but I can't guarantee it.
