  1. Material for horticulture stake sign

Printable semi-rigid PVC. Used to make inserts for store displays with it years ago. Got it from Big Systems, they had a heavy and medium. Comes on a roll, printable, and you can run it through a cutter (just score/ fold and tear out), or cut by hand. I don't see the heavy stuff on their site...
  2. Question How would you do it?

Got a request from a company who wants to cover the side of a building, new thing for us. It's 400 feet long, 4 stories tall, and they want to cover the entire back side of the building overlooking an artsy-fartsy part of town with some modern artwork. Haven't gone to look at it yet (150 miles...
  3. Newbie Designer Here

Welcome to the madness. :welcome: I started almost 60 years ago hand lettering trucks, went into digital design almost 30 years ago doing web elements for programmers, then into the display market & signage. Retired once, and back at it again. Best advice I can give is get good at redrawing...
  4. Not sure what is causing this.................................................................. ??

I happened to catch a product video 3M put out back when it first came out. I thought gee, a protective film is cool, but never thought people would have to find out it was there like this. I will say even if I knew it was there, and hadn't seen the product video, I probably would have removed...
  5. Hiring Designers for my Sign Company

If this is a sign of the times, get ready for a shortage of designers as time goes by. Our local tech college had a graphic design program, but they pumped out tons of budding new designers for every job available locally, so the only one making a living off it was the school. They discontinued...
  6. Check out my new handicap ladder!

Only 53??? Yer a young pup yet... I'm pushing 70, every time I even think of ladders something hurts. I think I'm gonna order one of these.
  7. Where Do I Get Vinyls That Look Have Abalone Shell, Pearl, Beautiful Colored Minerals Printed?

VVIVID has all kinds of specialty vinyls, architectural, marbles, woods, textured faux leathers, holograph, security films, etc, etc... most in 60" widths, partial or full rolls. Don't know if they'd have what you need or not. I've only used their gloss 3d carbon fiber so far, but they have some...
  8. Raster and Vector Image Customer Rant

I kinda like that $50 setup charge across the board for anything new too, might just propose that. Right now we charge $65hr (more if they're a PITA right out of the gate) with a 1hr minimum to recreate anything we get that's not in vector for our use only, if they want the file when it's done...
  9. Check out my new handicap ladder!

Where did you find that treasure at?
  10. Great one for a Friday afternoon before going home............................................................

Wait till dad does the math on how much material's been wasted... Oops
  11. banners all types

We do standard banners kinda regular, I have half a roll of mesh material that's so old it should be in the dumpster... That's how often we do those.
  12. head strike, what do i do now?

been there, done that... When it just rubs material, as long as it didn't physically damage the heads (usually doesn't unless it hits something hard, you'd be able to inspect and see any actual damage) it jams ink back into the nozzles and blocks them. Clean & soak heads to dissolve the ink, a...
  13. How long have you been on here?

Stalked for years, joined in 2014 till I retired at the end of 2017. No way to reclaim my old account, everything attached to it as far as passwords, email accounts to reset anything are long gone, so I re-joined again last year when I came back out of retirement. I guess I'm an oldie/ newbie...
  14. Thinking about adding a Wacom (or similar)

I use an XP-Pen Pro drawing tablet, when I'm not using it for drawing it sits on a stand and stays connected as an extra monitor. When set as an extended display you can use the mouse with it just like any additional monitor, or just drag any program to it and use the pen when you want to draw...
  15. So this was a first ...

What the heck is in those gummies, and how many did they eat before they did this?
  16. Need Help How to Clean Retro-Reflective Vinyl before printing

T6500 isn't for use with solvent printers, it's designed to be screen printed.
  17. Happy Halloween everyone

Town I live in is small, we live out on the edge of town, so we usually get none. I buy a big ol' bag of peanut butter cups just in case, guess they're all mine again ;)
  18. Fabric Awning Install on Corrugated Metal Bldg

You could try foam sealing strips between the upper support and the siding. They're available for most standard profiles/ brands of steel siding & roofing, mainly used for sealing ridge caps. They're sealed in place with a butyl caulk or butyl adhesive strips. They look like this... Something to...
  19. Printing Translucent to keep the reflective.

The only printers that have any issues like that are UV printers because the curing lamps can reflect back onto the print head and cure the ink on the head. Even with those it's more an issue with highly reflective materials like printing on mirrors and chrome surfaces, not reflective vinyls...
  20. US Cutter Plotters

I don't use it, but this list of Flexi compatible cutters shows a ton of UScutter devices, don't know about 7.5 https://thinksai.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4411556318356-Cutter-Compatibility-List
