  1. Not Really Surprise...

If the suits were just US based, you'd probably lose, because we always seem to lose to corporate interest. As hard as our courts try to protect US copyrights from being infringed upon by other countries, I'm curious to see what happens when it goes the other way like with UK based Getty. Even...
  2. Not Really Surprise...

    I present exhibit A. :toasting:
  3. Not Really Surprise...

There's still that pesky clause in copyrighting that says it has to be created by a human, so until it gets clarified legally everything created by AI is pretty much royalty free, zero copyright protection, you can steal it, take it, use it as you please, and no one can stop you... Unless it...
  4. So.......................................................................

No menus, a sign no one can see... This place has success written all over it. Maybe Gino will at least get a few good lunches before they go down ;)
  5. Black Drop Ink Mutoh 1604x

Every time that happens to me it's usually a piece of fuzz, hair, or debris stuck on the head. It collects ink and when there's enough it drops it when it passes over the edge of the media. It can be small enough where you don't even see it if you're not looking for it. That's where I would start.
  6. JV300 Half damper missing

I would look into that too. When the printer does its refresh cycle when it's shut off, and cleanings, it does pump cleaning solution to the head cap. Could cause issues down the line, especially over weekends & holidays when it's not being used. That should be a pretty easy fix, maybe a kinked...
  7. What's the worst file you've been given to print?

We have a local company we do work for that does modular wall panels, and once in a while they get requests for custom artwork on them. It has to be all vector because they finish them with architectural coatings, and everything is done by stenciling, we've done a few for them without any...
  8. What's the worst file you've been given to print?

I really don't think I could narrow any one down as the worst in the decades I've been doing this. I've seen it all... Besides employment in this industry, my sideline for about the past ten years is doing ads for magazines, publications, and newspapers. Most of them I do from scratch, but some...
  9. Hardware Bags

Check Orbus, they have it all, bags, hard cases... Anything display related. https://www.orbus.com/
  10. Mimaki LF-140 ink

140 is a hard ink... If you want to stay with flexible you could always go aftermarket. STS Inks sells a replacement for the 200. Don't know how good it is, but might be worth checking into. Nazdar probably has inks that'll work too.
  11. Print on fluorescent vinyl help

Technically that's not a printable vinyl... But like everything else we print on that we're not supposed to, passes, speed, heat all play a factor in how it turns out, especially with white solvent inks. Slow, hot & many passes is usually the winning combination.
  12. Unrealistic requests/deadlines

That's what this was, and we've done several other locations for them, always deal with the same people.... Ball was really dropped on this one.
  13. Unrealistic requests/deadlines

We all get the unrealistic timelines, and crazies. We had one go the other way recently. Had everything go on schedule for all the exterior signage on a new commercial construction, everyone seemed to have their ducks in a row, get a confirmation on an install date, a follow up to make sure we'd...
  14. Platen has no suction? Clean your fan.

Wow... I'm surprised the motor was still running at all.
  15. Anybody use Mac?

Amen to ALL of that. I'm old as dirt and can remember a time when Mac ruled the design world, and even I swore by them, but those days are loooong gone. I have a mac on my desk here at the shop only because the guy I replaced said he HAD to have it, and then they had to invest in some low buck...
  16. A sign related food subject......................................................................................

Yer' basic garlic butter basted rib-eye, smothered in caramelized sweet onions, on a toasted brioche bun... So basic, and yet so good.
  17. Anybody use Mac?

Haven't used Corel in years, but I use Affinity, and it can handle a LOT. Never have any issues on PC's, even with multiple 1,000+ layer files open at once. I have had a couple of exception crashes on the Mac with Affinity, and only when I have Illustrator open too, and multiple files open in...
  18. Has Artificial Intelligence gone too far?

Legality issues are already coming up on AI generated artwork. In order to receive a copyright, art has to be created by a human, it's in the rules, always has been. AI is like the chinese market, it doesn't create something new, it copies it from other sources, hence no AI created image or art...
  19. RF640 - Supply Take up problems

Don't know if it uses the same take-up as the Rolands I used to run, but I'd start by checking the cable that connects to the printer, I've had problems with those in the past. Since you have two working ones, swap a cable from one of the working ones, if it fixes it, order new cables.
  20. High Temperature Paint sign

McMaster Carr sells high temp paints. Limited colors (aluminum, black, grey, white) up to 1,200 degrees and black radiant coatings that go up to 2,000 plus degrees. https://www.mcmaster.com/high-temperature-paint/maximum-temperature~range~~-1777579616141/
