  1. Do you think this is a bad roll or something else?

20' into a roll of Arlon 4600. Inks and optimizer are in warranty. Anyone have an (informed) opinion about whether this would fail prematurely? I'm in a crunch unfortunately. This is supposed to be a solid color. The only saving grace is that it's covering a van window and supposed to match...
  2. How to replace this sign face?

Existing customer - nobody knows who did the sign originally - what do I need for this? Apparently it got sucked out in a storm.
  3. Alupanel Client Install w no visible fasteners

That's a pretty elegant solution - makes me wish the sign WAS double sided! :D
  4. Alupanel Client Install w no visible fasteners

Hey all, I dug around a bit but I'm not sure how to approach this. I've got a 3'x4' 6mm alupanel sign going on a couple of fiberon 4x4 sleeves. I've done lots of signs more or less like this, but they've always been roadside so a few discrete fasteners were no big deal. This sign though is...
  5. Finally pressed the "Get Optimal Results" button. Typical HP bullshit!

In HP production manager when looking at job settings there's this button. No mention of it anywhere in documentation, and haven't found anything about it on the internet either. After 5 years I finally bothered to click it. It's a flucking ad. Takes you to their website.
  6. HP 700w roll management - how do you keep track of how much roll is left?

I see what you're saying but the printer knows when the substrate detaches from the core. It doesn't need the counter to know if there's still material on the roll.
  7. Can anyone with HP Production Manager or Flexi please check this file for me

Thank you Geneva, but I'm all set. Closing and reopening the production manager didn't work but rebooting the PC did.
  8. Can anyone with HP Production Manager or Flexi please check this file for me

I'm getting a RIP Error when I try to rip this and the lack of info regarding what the error is is driving me crazy. Also given that this software throws "RIP error" at you, if you have HP Production Manager I encourage you to click help (which takes you to SAI website) and then search RIP...
  9. HP 700w roll management - how do you keep track of how much roll is left?

Also I LOVE how the printer tells you to the tenth of a foot how much remains on the roll and then when you input that length it rounds it TO THE NEAREST TWO FEET :banghead:
  10. HP 700w roll management - how do you keep track of how much roll is left?

This!!! It's so stupid that this machine with a computer built into it can't keep track of this for us. Then no length tracking for them I guess. Seriously it's so easy to copy and rename a profile that the system shouldn't be handicapped to accommodate people who don't bother to. See above.
  11. Does anyone else hate online reviews?

Most of the time we're doing an in-kind donation, and we don't usually go below cost. We do also do the minimum size ads in football programs etc. just to maintain a presence.
  12. Does anyone else hate online reviews?

Not online but in person once I got accused of misogyny - a woman in her mid-forties came in and started telling me all about how she and her two friends were going to go to Okinawa to study Tae Kwon Do under some great master. I'm thinking "Okay, and?" and then she explains that they are...
  13. Seal 54 laminator has no power this morning

I'm guessing you're back up and running? Just some advice for you and everyone else who doesn't already - get a voltmeter and learn how to use it. One five minute YouTube video should tell you all you need to know. It's dead simple to check fuses (sure you can replace them, but if you don't...
  14. Is it at all possible.................................................................................

Before I vote I wanna know which side of that fence you'd put me on
  15. I think my computer ate mushrooms

I haven't seen anything like that. I'm just replying so you know that somebody cares :D
  16. Educating clients in what is and isn't high quality artwork.

Oof it always pains me to see graphics that have gone from vector to bitmap and then back to vector; not only do the letters themselves look sh*tty the outlines always go crazy!
  17. Educating clients in what is and isn't high quality artwork.

Also when all else fails take it into Photoshop, flatten it if it's got transparency, make sure there's a little white space around the logo (Image/Canvas Size) and then Image/Image Size. Resize it using Preserve Details 2.0. For things like sponsor signs that people aren't right up against...
  18. Educating clients in what is and isn't high quality artwork.

With new businesses, when they bring me whatever crap their buddy put together in Word, I have had great success blowing it up, showing it to them, and telling them "for $X I can clean this up so your sign looks great AND give you copies of the right files so you'll have good clean art for...
  19. Educating clients in what is and isn't high quality artwork.

OH MY GOD THAT IS THE WORST
  20. 315 printing issue - Ink, Optimizer, or Substrate?

The only weird thing about that is it's a new roll and I'm 75% through it and only now seeing it happen
