    any cast without lamination will work, the key is to use thin material, calendared just wants to regain its original form so it pulls away from the valleys if there was a VOC problem you probably wouldn't have been able to give us those pics

    without knowing if you were using the correct tools I would say it's either a stone or rebar. if it was rebar, put a regular bit in and see if you can cut into it. if that don't work, then it's a stone and your equipment isn't up to the task.
