I aint got time for that. I have design work to do, lol. But, thank you!
Our previous system was pretty robust, but was built 8 years ago when we were at a different point in our business' growth.
We have almost tripled our revenue, employees, etc and it is just kind of cumbersome to deal with...
We had a custom piece of software written for us around 8 years ago to manage our business/production here, but we are really starting to outgrow it.
We are now looking at migrating over to a different software that is more robust and easier to manage.
What software is everyone here using? What...
With these older Gerbers the easiest fix you can do is to unseat and reseat every connection you can find inside of it. A lot of the time this fixes the issue.
I have never used the Epson Edge Dashboard in around 6 years of running S-series printers. You can do everything you need to in Onyx (or other rip) or on the printer itself.
Magenta and yellow share the same pump and black/cyan share the other pump. The caps Y into the pump and if the ink sets and doesn't pump correctly ink will flow back up into the other head(s) and make your colors off. These printers are just "gravity fed" systems under no pressure in the lines.
Pre-prep at the office can go a long way on cutting down on on-site time.
Having a good template/pattern and having all letters pre-taped or studs inserted saves time.
Bagging words/areas separately also cuts down on figuring out what goes where.
We have a 96"+ keencut that gets used every day on shorter panels like van wraps. For the longer straight cuts it has to be a ruler and knife and we just roll it out/up on either end as we go.
I don't know if you can swap them out between the two machines but I BELIEVE you can, it's been a few years...
I do know The Plotter Doctor sells refurbished rollers for around $1000 with core trade-in. (IIRC)
We have a Vision CNC Router. It does a good job and is pretty reliable. The software that comes with it is not for 3D/contoured routing, but you can upgrade to it.
There is a little bit of a learning curve to using a CNC, but overall it is not too different than a plotter and most of the errors...
I'm still fighting flame polishing the edges here. We are using map gas, but sometimes it'll burn it before it polishes it and other times it turns out great.
On your Epson printer, go back into the media setting that you are using to print and re-calibrate the print material. That will help it print better (less banding) and also help ensure that it is feeding it through correctly.
You may also want to measure your prints versus your original file...
It'll be just fine. I've done a decent amount of fire boats. Use 3M 280 series vinyls though.
I remember doing one once when the water was WAY up and they couldn't take the boat out of the water... hanging over the sides of the boat out in the river squeegeeing vinyl SUCKED!
We planned all of our walls when we moved into our new building, but it took over a year to get them all installed, and the production dept ended up doing a lot of the installs. Now, we'd never get them installed... can't hardly keep up with orders!
