  1. printing on a wall graphic vinyl question

Do I take it that lamination really is not necessary when using an Avery wall graphic vinyl?
  2. Gerber Edge beeps

Mine now does this more and more frequently. I have an LE and I open the lid and gently rotate the printer on its side. There are 3 screws underneath on each side and you open these panels ( more likely the one on the left side) and I ground myself and gently make sure everything is connected...
  3. Streaks In Print

For the sake of not having the headache just print on matte and laminate gloss. Someone basically gave me a cheap roll of offshore vinyl that I am sure sells for no more than $100.00 (54") and I have been using it for the cheap coro signs or for people that are just plain cheap. This stuff...
  4. Streaks In Print

I can't tell you why your getting streaks, but I have found that with my printer that printing on cheap gloss always prints crappy. I always prefer to print on a matte as I never seem to have print issues. I then can laminate it gloss or matte depending on the customers needs.

  6. How do I know if the colour is printing correctly if I am only given cmyk values?

This question has probably been asked many times, but I know that when I plug in cmyk values given for jobs, that the colours in a lot of cases could print a lot better if I knew the pantone colour and matched it myself off of the pantone charts we have charts we have. So I ask this question...
  7. JV3-160 SP Not Printing at all?

I'm not sure about the wiper you use in your machine but I change mine pretty religiously as I can see that it slowly looks bowed and figure it is not squeegeeing the head properly...not sure how one would look after a year
  8. today on a very special "what's wrong with my printer?"....

I think it has to do a lot with the training we get from dealers. When I first got my printer I was the only one I knew that had this model. I ran into many issues with colour and and dealing with different types of materials. I would call them and they made me believe that I was the only one...
  9. need some help with old computer

This comp has nothing in it really ...just Omega...I bring all the files over the network and then save them again back over the network to my main comp. Come to think of it, I could probably run my Edge off the main computer seeing it sits idle most days
  10. need some help with old computer

Just a note...I can start it up in safe mode, but not sure what to do once I get to that point?
  11. need some help with old computer

Thanks guys... I have a win 7 comp avail...I really just did not want to go through the trouble of reinstalling the program and what not. The computer does not hold any vital files as they are all on my main computer and we open them across the network.... at least I think that was the way...
  12. need some help with old computer

I run my Gerber Edge off of an old computer running....now don't laugh too hard.... it runs on win2000. The issue started last week when the computer went totally dead. I figured if nothing is working then the power supply is the problem. I had an old spare at home and brought it in hooked it...
  13. Why do designers really not understand us sign people?

yes but in my head saving every individual piece of artwork separately in it's own file is way more tedious than grouping them all together and just working in one document.
  14. Why do designers really not understand us sign people?

I don't know about you, but I feel like I waste so much time trying to explain to designers that I don't need each piece of a job in a separate file and then they do just that. Case in point... I quote a job of individual graphics for a company that will be placed in different offices. A...

I have tested unlaminated prints on calendered in full sunlight and easily got 2 years and pushed it to 3 years with minor fade...after that they go rather fast
  16. JV3-160 SP Not Printing at all?

Also do yourself a favor and buy 5 or 6 and have them ready to switch out as they only last 6 - 8 weeks before requiring changing...they are important in keeping your heads clean
  17. JV3-160 SP Not Printing at all?

Take the wiper out and clean it with the cleaning fluid and clean the holder real well. Get down into the rails and clean them...move the wiper holder manually forward to get all the gunk build up in there as well.... You should be doing this sort of maintenenace at least once a week to prevent...
  18. JV3-160 SP Not Printing at all?

I think that wiper message means that the wiper has become jammed during a sleep clean. The machine stays on until you press enter and not doing any cleanings I believe. You need to clean the wiper area real well...the tracks will be pretty gummed up with solvent . clean everything and run a...
  19. JV3-160 SP Not Printing at all?

Has the machine been sitting idle for a long time? was it plugged into the wall and running sleep cleanings? We need more info.
