  2. Looking for a wholesale printer for a 15 oz lay flat blockout material

We use Ultraflex's SuperSmooth PET Blockout SSPETBO137050, 15oz matte white printable on either side. We get it in 38" and 54" wide rolls that are 164' long. We get from our local supplier, Harbor Sales, https://harborsales.net/tabid/130/Default.aspx?ProductTypeId=53&FilterApplication=Blockout
  3. Need Help Advice on printer

Advantages & Disadvantages of UV: Cures immediately, Color can flake off of vinyl if not laminated, Color is raised, so subtle air bubbles around edge of printed areas when laminated. We have a Roland XR640 Eco-Solvent printer now. It has been great. If we were to buy another printer it would...
  4. problem with UV printing. glow at the end

Leading vs trailing lamp setting. One produces glossy, the other flat finish.
  5. s80600 owners, leave your machine on or off when not using?

On all the time. The heads can dry out or clog if you don't
  6. Oralite 5650 RA vs 3M IJ680 R

We use Nikkalite 48000 white for street signs. Have to agree with ikarasu that it comes off in small pieces if you need to strip it. But you can apply it to a wrap vinyl before you cut it, like Arlon SLX or Briteline WrapCast, and it will give it conformability and easy removal. Never tried...
  7. Question 1360Z Gloss Overlaminate

290 is the bomb. And it is back in stock at Fellers I never liked the Avery laminates. Prefer 290, 3M 8518, and Briteline WrapCast Overlaminate. Arlon 3270 is good too.
  8. shop floors, what's your's like, what works

Home Depot hires in a company to polish the concrete floors about once per year or two. During the rest of the year they have cleaning contractors that run a fancy machine that essentially wet mops the floor.
  9. Pealing Vinyl

You used a 7 year Calendared vinyl in a full sun application with a 4 year calendared laminate. Both were not good choices for durability and for the effects of the full sun. I believe what you are seeing here is the extra energy from the sun causing the calendared vinyl to try to return to a...
  10. Layered vinyl on desk with no tape

I would expect the customer would need application tape to keep everything pre-spaced, but if you want to go to some trouble, you could cut out some of the blue and use a roller to apply some orange before putting it in your plotter to cut - your math would have to be good so everything is...
  11. Window film recommendation

You might consider getting a creeper stool or knee creeper: https://www.amazon.com/Omega-91452-Black-Profile-Z-Creeper/dp/B007OAGMYW/ref=sr_1_75?keywords=creeper+stool&qid=1669902836&sr=8-75...
  12. Window film recommendation

Not tough to do, just do it wet with Rapid Tac or comparable. You can mask the vinyl if you want to prevent scratches, and cut it to size - or cut it close and trim at install. Just mist the window and the adhesive side of the vinyl, use a squeegee with a felt or microfiber coated edge, push the...
  13. Flexi 8.5 w/ Graphtec FC-9000 compatibility?

Upgrading to Flexi 19 is not a terrible idea... But your FC9000 will work in standard plot mode if you name it a FC8600 and choose that in your drop down. I don't think you can plot using crop marks unless you have it installed as FC9000 and choose that in the drop down.
  14. Need Help Installing indoor signs from suspended ceilings?

Most ceiling tiles crumble fairly easily... I suggest following Moze's advice.
  15. Oralite 5650 RA vs 3M IJ680 R

We use 680CR and Oralite 5650 RA. Both are excellent. The 680CR is a touch better applying and sticking to compound curves (I say that as someone who like Orafol products better than 3M). Differences are small. On flat surface, no advantage to either. We have applied non-air release reflective...
  16. Discussion Advantages of UV to a Solvent

That right there... We use our UV to flatbed print direct onto MDO, Composite, Aluminum, Coroplast, Magnetics, and sometimes Acrylic or Vinyl. The advantage is labor saving for most of these - no assembly, just print and install. We do laminate such prints if they are to be up for years. For...
  17. Here's a funny layout request.

48 points, the largest type spec'd, is .667 inches - so the text would be tiny
  18. Edge curling on solvent murals

We use a Roland XR-640 and Eco-Solv Max2 inks. Solvent inks affect the vinyl and adhesive. We have found that you sometimes get curling if you cut immediately after printing, but you do not if you let it off gas for a few hours or overnight. We have laminated some prints, it is just most...
  19. Edge curling on solvent murals

For wall murals, we almost never laminate, but we still off gas the print before cutting. This helps prevent edge curling of full bleed areas.
  20. Where can I buy an original Big Squeegee brand laminator tool?

I believe you need to create an account to add it to your cart at Beacon Graphics. But they have an 800 number. I think you are looking for the Series 1 or 2 https://www.beacongraphics.com/supplies/tools/bigsqueegee.html
