  1. Prints on clear acrylic

We've used all three options as well. One thing I remember, when we did option 3 we one found that when you get near the end of a roll of the optically clear mounting adhesive, sometimes it would have a ripple/impression from where it had been taped to the roll and this would transfer to the...
  2. Dust under laminate tips?

Clean the area... the dust is coming from somewhere in your shop. Maybe the floor as you walk; maybe from using a panel saw and the dust is still floating in the air. I would suggest you clean the table and the floors, use a tack roller on the substrate, do your material prep (cutting substrate...
  3. 3M IJ175 alternative?

For decals wrap vinyl is not so good, but those with Rapid Air/Air release work great. We use Avery MPI1105 EZ for decals or Oracal 3951RA. For Wraps, Avery MPI 1005 EZRS, Oracal 3951 Pro Slide, Arlon SLX+ all work well. For laminate our favorite is OraGuard 290, though it is not inexpensive. A...
  4. laminate or not

You will need to laminate them. As far as vinyl, Avery MPI 1005 EZ (and NOT the EZRS - repositionable needs to be post form heated, whereas EZ does not) is a good quality, readily available air release type vinyl with good initial tack and a good price. Avery sets the price on this, so it should...
  5. Creating complex weeding lines

I don't see the issue weeding this. But a tip is to put the cut on it and let it sit overnight before weeding - often the adhesive will pull away from itself a tiny bit where the vinyl is cut and be easier to weed.
  6. low tack vinyl for eco-solvent inks

Orafol 3621 Soft Calendared White Vinyl - it is removable and less than $200 for a 54"x50yd roll.
  7. Using Magnetic Material Tips

We usually print using our UV, but remember you can print onto vinyl and coat the magnets and then trim them out...
  8. Thinking about buying Graphtec FC8600-130

I'd offer him $3500, but that machine will pay for itself overtime.
  9. Suggestions One UV hybrid printer vs Roll to Roll and Flatbed printer

Get the one that best fits the work you are doing. We started with a roll printer (Roland Eco-Solvent) and it is still a workhorse. You can print on vinyl 4x8 and apply to rigid substrate if needed. We added a Flatbed UV and that has been awesome (FluidColor - a Handtop essentially) as most jobs...
  10. Niagara Falls

There is a restaurant in East Aurora NY called The Globe - fantastic steaks. Also, when in the area get a Beef on a Weck (spelled correctly, it is a type of bun) sandwich. It is roast beef with horseradish sauce and is a local specialty.
  11. Fellers ordering anxiety

We buy a fair amount of vinyl from Fellers and I like that their website does actually tell you if it is in stock. We also buy from Harbor, Grimco and RVinyl and I shop Glantz (their stock and rep aren't top notch, though will admit after getting help from the ladies that answer the phone leaves...
  12. Never had this question asked before..............................................................................

We do the same... Trim around caulking... Never have removed the old caulk and re-caulked after wrapping the trailer. Certainly don't want that liability.

  15. Oracal 970RA 030 Dark Red

Glantz is out as well. Problem is many people just have the manufacturer drop ship infrequently sold colors - So this does give you a chance to see who stocks what...
  16. can i get away with 30inch printer?

30 inch vinyl and laminate is readily available. Decals and logos for vehicles can often fit on 30 inch vinyl. Obviously a printer that can print on 54 inch rolls can print the same graphics and larger. But your choice - influenced by your budget. I will say, in the 80s all we had was the Gerber...
  17. 3M IJ 180C on block wall

Heat and a roller or burnisher are your friends.
  18. Need some ideas for mounting 2 sided substrate between 2 PVC posts

Sooper U Brackets and center brackets. They make them for 1/2", 3/4" and even 1/4" but I would not trust a sign this size at 1/4 thickness... https://harborsales.net/tabid/130/Default.aspx?ProductTypeId=46
  19. Summa S2 cutting reading marks on chrome

You can also print another set of marks on white this time and place them over the old ones - you have to get your alignment just right, but have done that to save a printed piece
