I forgot to convert my file to curves before I opened it in flexi and cut the mask for this sign. Flexi makes fonts weird when I open files with fonts in them. Being a sign maker, this happens fairly often. It made "Town Hall" thin and off centre. I hate when this happens!!! I can't believe I...
Here is a pic of the sign shape. I altered the logo to obscure the company. It is 66" wide and mounts to a wall so it's single sided.
What I would like to know is how should this be constructed. I don't want to make it but I want to know what to ask/look for when I'm trying to find a...
I have this customer's logo and he wants "dentil molding" around the oval. I did a couple by hand and then went blank. Something like "fit text to path" would be great...but for squares. Anyone know how?
Anyone know where I can find a clipart janitor/plumber man running and holding a bunch of tools? I need a classic 50's style logo and the monopoly man is the best way I can describe the look I'm thinking of. The style of Dan Antonelli's "Courtesy Cleaners" man would be another example of what...
Here's a just for fun one. What do you guys think? I looked at stuff from Joe Diaz and Shane Durnford before I started.:notworthy:
Didn't know whare to put "Co." Any suggestions?
Would a list of peoples pet peeves be interesting?
I can't stand it when I read a car add that says,"The car is red in colour." As opposed to what? Red in shape?!
I also can't stand it when people chew gum. I murder them in hideous ways in my head.
So anyone have any?
I'm not...
This is the Big Apple. It's about 10 feet in diameter and it's about 16 feet tall. It needs new lettering. The lettering is vinyl...or it was vinyl. Now it's mostly glue.
No one remembers who made the apple or obviously what it was painted with. I can tell it was sprayed but that's about...
Shane Durnford's new site is finally up. I've been following his blog for some time now and was anxiously waiting for him to get his site up and running. T'was worth the wait. If you like superb design go there now but prepare to feel very humbled. http://shanedurnford.com/

I have a customer that would like a double sided 5 foot wide by 4 foot long hanging sign made from HDU. This sounds a little large to me. Should I advise against it or full speed ahead? Anyone here do hanging signs this size?
I think I've been looking at this for long enough. Anyone have any suggestions? The before is getting pretty ratty looking so they want me to make them a new one out of HDU. The pictorial will be carved. I can't decide if the pictorial is too big or needs to simplified or? The font doesn't...
There has been a lot of talk on the forum lately about hand done things and lost arts. Here's a lost art I taught myself quite a few years ago. Not sign related but interesting, I think.
I haven't made one of these in at least 15 years. The whole task is done by hand. I use antique tools like...
I don't apply many prints to the sides of trucks but I'm doing one tomorrow. I've always app taped them but do I need to or can I just put it on as is? It's laminated.
Should have mentioned - it's about 3' x 6'.
Check out the latest idea from 99designs. http://99designs.com/logo-design/store
Lots of logos to choose from all ready to have your company name typed in. I bet they sell a ton of these @99 bucks a pop.
Let me know what you think of this layout. It's for an R/C model plane site. The product is r/c model airplane plans and parts.
Thought I would get some input while it's still just a single page......before I get too much time tied up in it. This is a screen capture. It's a Xara page with...
